As we age, there are signs that may alert us and those present that something is amiss.

Check Those Signs

This most certainly as we age is grave concern and a bother
When we see the increasing cases of those with Alzheimer
Seeing people who were once so pleasant and vivacious
Feeling now so useless; and not know who to trust.

What great pains, to see someone so brilliant and so intelligent
Very articulate a source of information, so refreshingly present
Demonstrating a condition, that will affect you even more
When in their very house can’t find the way to the front door.

Then what about a moment when you get them into a conversation
All is going well, then suddenly in this session, like for no reason
There is this sudden lapse on to people and things of the past
An event to which the can easily relate to, at last.

Something there is an event, that indicate that early sign
But those around, may think it trivial and cast it from the mind
Perhaps so much engrossed in the world of current technology
So no attention is paid to the family member’s failing mental faculty.

Later surprise, shock and pain will be all that grace the face
When it is discovered that the person can’t tie the shoe lace
Or this too may even touch them deep and to the bone
When the person start to wander away from home

So those who have anyone living who may be aged
Kindly do not take them or anything for granted
Spend time with them talking, playing games and even just company
Making sure, that they are in a ready state and being contemporary.

Be happy if around the home they are doing chores, as an activity
Walk with them and even admire the external scenery
A look at nature inhaling the aromatic flowers, and the natural beauty
Then later some wonder word and cross word puzzles, for things mentally.

This really touched me, Poetic. Alzheimers is such a cruel disease that bit by bit takes away the one you love... A powerful share and insight..

A perfect poetic description of "the long good-bye." Thank you.
