A short poem, which is simply called "Christmas Pup"
Christmas Pup
Given to a man with drunken ways
I had four homes in four short days.
A happy Christmas was had by all
But I was passed round like a rubber ball.
“Pass the parcel” had nothing on me
As I landed in home number three.
The goodwill season and peace for all men!
What about me as I was passed on again?
Home number four didn't want me
but at least they phoned the Sanctuary.
Full of the joys and Christmas fare
They took the time to take me there.
Having been passed form pillar to post
A home of my own was wanted the most.
A young pup with much living to do
Could I be the one for you?
If you are unwilling to commit yourself for life
Please don't put animals through the anguish and strife.
Of being passed around from home to home
Or turfed out on the street and left to roam.
