Comfort Zone

Sometimes we need to step outside our own comfort zone and explore a different place, or gain a different experience to our normal routine. This can be quite a daunting experience especially when we are taking our first steps towards our love for another...

Comfort Zone

Stepping outside of my comfort zone,
Not knowing what to say.
Heart-a-pounding swiftly my love,
Not wanting to face my day.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone,
Not knowing what to see.
Should I blacklead the grate again?
Or say what I feel for thee.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone,
Just a welsh lad, now feeling fine.
For a daffodil placed in your hand,
Will show you that you are mine!

Thank you so much Delicia. I have a few mini daffodils growing indoors at the moment. There is about 3 inches of snow outside as I write..

Rich, what a beautiful verse you've composed, every word of it an imagery in itself. Thanks for sharing, my friend.

What a really great topic to write Rich, and it makes you think too..We all have our comfort zones and stepping outside them can be scary but exhilarating too..This is indeed an inspired poem and like Delicia, Daffodils always indicate the first stirrings of Spring and renewal after a sleepy Winter... Changing routines and attitudes continuously stimulate us my friend..This poem works on many levels and is cleverly crafted Richard..Well done!

Well thank you Bev for your kind and encouraging words. There will be many daffodils waving at 3pm today 5th Feb 2012 when Wales are playing Ireland in the rugby 6th Nations...lol. I love the early signs of Spring with the anticipation of the new things to come in our gardens...

Fine poem with good imagery. A Welsh lad with a daffodil in hand reminds me of Wordsworth. May be, you are one in the making Richard.

I love the honest sincerity and defined bravery in this. It is never foolish to risk, for comfort’s sake, all that is common place when it comes to heart matters. Lovely gift of poetry; thanks for sharing Richard!
