Complete and Total Shock

This is a poetry about a man who does not lend a helping hand and finds out later that indeed, if he had, he could have saved himself anguish and agony. We should always help others when we can. You never know.

That Evening

There he was
Minding his business
Never mind his stress
He was just thinking
Last night’s events
Still shook him
He had never, not in his life
Seen such a horrific scene
Anyway, he had to drive past
Very fast, and never look back
He still cant figure out
How three small vehicles
Could collide head on
He just hopes the victims
Were all cared for
The woman in one car
Looked really critical
What if he stopped to help her?
Anyway, he had to get home early
But funnily, his wife wasn't there
Where could she be?
Just then, his phone rang
His dear wife, critical
Apparently she was involved in a highway motor accident
No one saw her in the vehicle
All others were rushed to the hospital
She lost a lot of blood
Revived by machines
She stands no chance
Upon seeing her
He is yet to recover
From total and complete shock
It’s the same woman
He passed by last night
How could he have missed her
To think he was rushing home
To meet her
Now he will never see her

So true. Misfortune can befall anyone. We should help if we can in whatever way we can.

I have missed few chances to be of help and I have regreted my action and have carried the scars in my psyche. Beautifully brought home the harsh reality, Benter - siva

Hey Siva! Life is like that. The best we can do is learn from our mistakes and do better the next time. Thanks for the visit!

Yes for sure if you see an accident, do stop, unless police are on the scene.
