A poem about taking a drive through the back roads.

Country Ride

Cruising down a windy road,
A good day for a drive,
Down a back road,
Down a California highway,
Just rolling down the coast.

Beautiful mountains,
Covered in the dry brown grass,
Watching the cows staring right at me,
While the other cars pass me by,
Such a beautiful day for a country ride.

Reflection

Sometimes when I get stressed out and feel overwhelmed by life, I find the best thing I can do is take a drive down a back road and enjoy the scenery and the calmness. It helps me to relax and really think about things.

Than other days, I feel like driving for no reason at all. My number one choice is always out a back country road where life seems slower and I can feel more connected with myself.

I live in the country, every drive is a country drive, just going to work is a country drive.

I really envy you because of your especially asset to drive a car and enjoy anytime the scenery all around. I don't know the skill. I can only enjoy the same when invited by a son but not always. Keep up!

Interesting. I find books more relaxing than driving. Of course, I am afraid of getting pulled over by law enforcement. I only like to drive to get from point A to point B. I have no extra money for gas. But I am glad you can do something soothing you enjoy.

Nice. I know the 'escape' of getting out of the city or even the small country town.
Not to judge, but I think you should gather more material, more imagery and more thoughts, since this is something you still do, and maybe make this poem a little longer as time goes by.
Or not - - it's your poem.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I will take the long way around San Antonio and just enjoy the scenery!

Like Mark, we live out in the country. Just to sit outside on a sunny day, watching the birds, chipmunks and sometimes deer and fawns, and breathing in the fresh mountain air totally de-stresses me.
