This poem popped into my head while I was lying in bed one night.

At night when I lay down my head and sink into my comfy bed.
I like to dream that I can fly, out of the window, up into the sky.
Up above the trees that sway and up towards the Milky Way.
Through dark velvet skies and stars that glisten.
An owl hoots below and begs me to listen.
Over mountains capped with snow.
I soar up high and swoop down low.
Skimming the top of a shimmering lake.
The snow is now falling in icy white flakes.
Alighting upon the tallest of trees.
Catching my breath with the gentlest breeze.
Over the sea I fly with the gulls.
The lapping of waves soothes me and lulls.
Into the darkest and cosiest coves.
A mixture of colours, of blues and of mauves.
The sun is beginning to rise in the east.
A mirage of colours, to the eyes a pure feast.
Travelling back to from whence I had come.
To my comfortable bed and the place I call home.
