Dabney's Quiet Time

Dabney lies on the couch if a position that looks like praying to me. I tried to relate what I think he is praying about.

Dabney's Quiet Time

My dearest cat Dabney, of what do you dream?
Always so frightened of everything you seem.

Although, when you are sleeping gently like this
I hold back, but you I want to hug, give you a kiss.

Do you dream of that squirrel you'll never catch?
I just don't think this one you will ever snatch.

Could I be wrong, that perhaps you're really praying?
Now, I am wondering what to God you'd be saying.

Might you be thanking Him for the safe way
to this protected haven in which you now stay?

Maybe it's to St. Francis to whom you chose to speak
to save the other homeless kitties, hungry and weak.

Whether a dream or praying, you'll sleep the day away.
Then awake meowing, "Where's my dinner?" you'll say.

Cats can be mysterious creatures. I often wonder what mine dream about too. If the positions they get themselves in when sleeping is any indication, they are having some pretty wild dreams.
