My second daughter is my best friend, it is amazing how we teach children and then later our daughters teach us.

Daughter Number 2 Tribute

My daughter Alexandria has always been an inspiration to me. I saw a post earlier by a friend about a tattoo of her family name and she referenced how people will hopefully not see tattoos as some kind of bad thing.

I have tattoos and I have to agree, they do not take away from the character of a person or make them bad people, the people themselves do that.

My Daughters Tattoo

When my daughter wanted her first tattoo 2 years ago to tribute her grandfather who passed I was behind her 100% and still am, her mother was very against the idea of a tattoo in general because she was afraid that it would leave her judged by others. My thinking is this, if it leaves her judged then we know what kind of people THEY are not you.

My Daughters Tongue Ring

Now she has a tongue ring which she got yesterday. Same thing, they dont like it too bad for them, be yourself! I love you Alex and always will and you will never have a bigger fan of all that you are than me!

A little background about her now - Her mother and I divorced when she was about 6 yrs old I believe but we spent every weekend together and I made it to as many school functions as I could providing work would allow me. I always gave her advice, more than she wanted I am sure but I never judged her. She always knew that she could come to me for anything and i would not just be her father, I would be her friend. I often questioned whether I was a good father, did I say the right things or set the best examples. Well, to be honest I know I didn't set the best examples and there were times in my life where I had hit all time lows and you know what?

Iv Learned From Her

All the advice I had pumped into her over the years about strength, about pride, about perseverance and self love this little girl pumped right back at me! I heard my own words said to me to inspire me. She listened, she learned and she loved me back as unconditionally as I loved her.

Today she goes to college, she works 2 jobs to put herself through school and is currently doing clinicals at a medical facility to get into nursing.

Alexandria you rock and are such a great example not only to your sisters but also to me.
