Dealing With Pain

It is interesting what people think is painful and what others do not find painful at all. We all have our own ways of dealing with pain.

Dealing With Pain

Years ago I had gone to see my dentist and was told that I needed a root canal done. I did not think any thing about it and scheduled the procedure. The procedure lasted for quite some time, but I listened to music, relaxed and it was soon over. I was given instructions and went back home and continued my daily activities.
When I mentioned about having a root canal done many people asked if I had been put to sleep. I looked at them as if they were nuts because I thought it was silly to be put to sleep for just an ordinary root canal.
Since then I have heard other people who have felt terrible pain having a root canal done and had to be put to sleep. I must be one of the lucky ones because I did not feel that the procedure was all that bad.
The only thing that bothered me about the whole procedure was having to keep my mouth open for so long. My jaw became uncomfortable then the actual operation. I guess everyone deals with pain in their own way and we are not here to judge, we are here to pray that they recover quickly.

For those who wish to have a root canal done, you may ask your dentist if he is willing to cut off the nerve at the bottom of the tooth before he drill the crown. If he wants to do that you reduce your pain by about 75 % because the time for cutting the nerve from the side of the tooth will take less that two minutes. My discipline is mechanical engineering.
