Deliverance

Often we are stuck in bad situations and pray for deliverance. Will we recognize the way out when it appears or will we be too slow to act and remain stuck?

Deliverance

Crying out in the night
For relief that doesn’t come
An escape from the pain
Constant and escalating
One poor decision, flippantly made
A lifetime of misery
Seeking a way out
Suddenly, a glimpse of hope, a light
Briefly shining, soon snuffed out
I have waited too long
To move, take a step
In its direction
Back to waiting, wishing
Praying for deliverance
A small opening through which to squeeze
I will not hesitate next time
Knowing there may not be
Another second chance
To start again
