Demons, evil spirits, possession within Christianity

If you come across something that you see as being evil, it probably is so. Evilness hides behind ignorance. The outer person often creates images of false energy that clouds around them and obscures the real soul within from them.

This happens because they have the freedom to do so. Wake up to who you really are. See the truth for what it really is. Accept Jesus Christ into your life. Love as you have never loved before.

Jesus Christ had the authority to cast out demons, and evil spirits from people

It is mentioned many times in the Christian bible that Jesus cast out demons from people possessed of them. He had the authority to do this.

What were these demons, and evil spirits though?

Were they really entities that the Devil or Satan controlled, or were they as some people speculate, just virus's or diseases?

People apparently thought that if you were sick, you were evil in some way, having either sinned, or because you were possessed by an evil spirit, or by a demon.

Here is just one instance of this as it was recorded in Saint Mark's gospel, chapter 1, verses 23 to 28.

<Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit began shouting, “Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

Jesus cut him short. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him.

Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened. “What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly. “It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!”>

It could be said that the devil plants his evil spirits within people, and that they then influence that person to continue to sin. A demon or a bad spirit is something corrupted by the devil, and it is like a bad angel. This can attach itself to evil if it is in you, or even to fear, as caused by evil. Only the power of Jesus can remove these from you.

Cast them out in Jesus' name by simply commanding them all to be gone in the name of Jesus Christ.

Anyone can drive out demons in Jesus' name like this.

It's simple to do, but you need a strong faith in order to connect yourself to Jesus in order to do it.

You simply say something like this:

"Get out you demons in the name of Jesus Christ, the only son of God. Be gone now, and do not ever come back."

Jesus gave us authority to cast out demons in his name

It takes a certain knowledge to be able to cast out demons from someone.

Even Jesus' disciples failed at doing this in at least one recorded incident in the bible. Jesus cast a bad spirit out of a young boy. His disciples could not do this, and Jesus later explained why to them privately.

He said to them, "This kind (of demon)can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting."

This example is to be found in Saint Mark's gospel, chapter 9, verses 17 to 29.

Ideas held by Christian healers

Demons are not just forms of multiple personality disorders. Multiple personalities still have something personable about them, something good within them. Demons are just evil. There is no relating to them, they cannot be talked to, or be reasonable to, or be reasoned with.

The only thing that works with them is when you take command over them by using the power of authority that Jesus Christ's name invokes.

Demons can attach themselves to you if given an invitation to do so. Engaging in Satanic rituals, or joining certain cults will often attach the evil spirit linked to that cult to you in some way.

A demon more inhabits you than possesses you. It can create a strong influence over you, but ultimately you are still in charge of your own self. You still bear the responsibility for what happened.

Evil spirits take advantage of conditions created either by you, by the cult you have joined, or sometimes as a result of hereditary lines. A bad spirit can sometimes enter you if it is already attached to one or both of your parents. When you sin, this is also an open invitation to the Devil to attach one of his bad spirits to you too.

When you accept Jesus Christ fully into your life, these demons are forced then to vacate your heart, if any of them were previously attached there that is.

Some can hang around though even after this unknown to you.

Apparently they can still remain attached to your thoughts, your emotions, or even within your body's reactions. You react in a certain way almost unconsciously because of this.

Even a Christian can still sin at times. They need to re-examine their thinking, and change those ways of thinking, emoting, or reacting that are not being driven from their heart of love as yet.

Wallowing in negative emotions can lead to creating such an opening for the devil to enter you. It must be remembered that there are no sinful emotions as such. There are only sinful ways of using these emotions.

This is why Saint Paul told us to, “don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil."

This guidance comes form the New Testament book of Ephesians, chapter 4, verses 26 & 27.

Final thoughts about this topic

Love is always the weapon to use against evil spirits. They cannot stand love, or stand against love.

Evil cannot love. Evil just always remains itself evil devoid of all love.

God is love.

If you break contact with God as Satan has done, you will lose contact with this great source of infinitely powerful love. The Devil has no love in him anymore. He operates from evilness itself. This evilness comes not from God, but from the imagination of these evil persons sucking energy for their evil plans from the good whenever they can do so.

Be wary of this, and do not allow yourself to be tricked into moving away from God and his love. God loves you, never forget that. The devil can never love you, nor can he love ever anybody else either.

very interesting but I do not believe in satan or were wolves or any of the false emanations of Christian doctrine to enforce power over people through fear.of devils, the undead, vampires, witches etc. if you go back and study you will find that these only came forward as a way of controlling people .which is how they obtained so much power and money...even the word heresy is defined as a belief or contrary to the orthodox doctrine and not conforming with the dogmatic opinions of the bishops derives from the Greek HAIRESIS meaning 'choice'

thanks cnwriter,

perhaps they are archetypes as Carl Jung called them, that mankind holds onto in this way, but now needs to let go off.

The unconscious mind does seem to control some people, whatever we call it. In the early days they seemed to think that this control was caused by demons.

I have found that things can be good or bad, but I do not think there is such a thing as evil.

Thanks Mark,

I guess it all comes down to our own labelling in the end.

Perhaps evilness is deliberately doing bad things to others.

Yes he hit the nail on the head, but the question then becomes what or who causes those people to choose to deliberately do evil things to other people.

Nobody should hurt another person ever if they can avoid it I think.

thanks Jerry,

obviously to me it is a lack of love for others that causes this, hence Jesus' great advice to love one another even as he has loved us.

what causes some people not to love fully though?

perhaps it is ignorance, immaturity, or in the case of evilness, perhaps it is that they really want to lead others away from love, or from God.

Or perhaps they want to force their ways on to others maybe...

There are various spirits quoted in the Bible like the Ahab Spirits and the Jezebel spirits etc. While all may possess psychic abilities, only few chosen by the One Above possess the real true ability to cast out demons, dark energies, entities etc. and here the voice of the Angel who commands all. While the Bible has many allusions to exorcism very few of them get totally cleansed because of this very reason, although many of the negative entities go into hiding in the persons' body only to resurface a little later more powerful than imagined and destroy the host that accommodates them because of the vibratory elements.
All Gods of All religions are the same except that they are called in other different names and with a different history connected to that particular avatar.
While love is one thing that can cast out demons and other entities, there is also innovation and observation that helps you see the pattern of possession to know the way it is taking place, how, why, what and during what time too.
These are all contributors to this factor of possessions.

WOW ~ Spirited ~ we realize this is a very controversial topic. However I consider your post to be power packed ~ based primarily on Mark 16:17 ~ "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out demons . . ." {Notice it says 'them that believe'}

Continued Blessings.

Thanks Helen,

this subject is even controversial amongst the Priests and ministers.

Some think demons are only metaphors for something else.
