There's so much between two people, but it only takes the extension of a hand to bridge the distance.

By: Jonathan McCloskey

The wind blows cold,
yet the moon burns hot.
Let’s sit and grow old,
naming everything we're not.

Future has been gone,
past no longer remembered.
Fairy tales far too long,
skipping the 12th of November.

Laying by the fireplace,
yet chilled to the core.
A frown on my face,
that can't take anymore.

There's nothing that I want,
no counseling that I need.
Just help me decide the font,
for these words that I bleed.

I'm prepared for this moment,
there's no need to make ready.
I can swim against the current,
just keep the boat steady.

You won't support my decisions,
this I have come to understand.
But don't make any reservations,
when I extend to you my hand.

The truth within my manhood,
is that I’m still that scared little kid.
Trying to make promises good,
just like Mom and Dad did.

Wonderful words to read this morning. Extending our hands to one another really can bridge the gap between us.
