"Dynamic Duo" The team is in trouble

Molly and Milly found Dad stuck in a hole. They found a large board that they used for leverage and managed to get Dad back on solid ground. His ankle was swollen, but there was no way to tell if it was broken. They had to figure out a way to get Dad into the car and back home. Rusty and Robert were both missing in action.

Helping Dad

Milly and Molly walked around searching for a stick, it had to be big enough to be used as a walking stick. Milly crawled over piles of wood, but none big enough to support Dad. Molly went down the hall and came back with a two pieces of wood that had potential. One board was the perfect size, but there were some nails sticking out of it. Milly was going through her bag, and came across a claw hammer. She had put the hammer in her bag at the last minute and thank goodness she did. Milly gave the hammer to Molly and she started working on getting the nails out of the board. One by one she pulled each nail out, until all that was left was the board. Now, Dad had a perfect walking stick. Dad managed to get up with the help of his walking stick, but he had to lean his weight on it to be able to walk. It was a long way to the car, and this could take hours.

The long road home

It was taking forever for Dad to walk down the hallway. Molly was worried about Robert and Rusty. Dad needed Milly so Molly was going to have to go alone. She didn't want to, but there was no choice at this point. Milly was going to guide Dad to the car and Molly was going in the opposite direction. It seemed like it took forever, but finally Dad and Milly made it outside. If they could just make it to the side of the building, Milly could get Dad in the car, and they could go home. An hour later they were standing in front of the car. Dad leaned on the car as he inched his way to the door. The foot that Dad had twisted was the foot he needed to drive. Milly decided if Dad would drive she would push the pedal down for him. They weren't far from home and Milly knew they'd make it. Milly was ready to do whatever she could to get Dad home. They pulled out of the alley way slow and easy and proceeded to drive down the empty street. Milly was so thankful when they pulled in the driveway. She'd used muscles she didn't even know she had.

Molly goes in search of the team

Molly didn't know where to start. She was alone in a big old room somewhere in the abandoned building. Molly knew Dad needed Milly so she was the only one left to go in search of Robert and Rusty. The plan had been for Rusty to follow the duct work along to the underground garage. She was going to find the basement and work her way to the garage. If luck was on her side she would run into Rusty and possibly Robert along the way. When she got to the basement she found the door that led to the garage. The bricks were still over in the corner by the door. She was going to stack them up and climb up to the window. It was the only plan she had and she sure hoped it worked. Molly stacked bricks high enough for her to see what was going on inside the garage. She really didn't like heights, but she saw no other way to know who and what was in the garage. From this side of the door she could hear voices. There were definitely people inside the room.

Back at home

Milly got Dad in the house and settled into his favorite chair. When she knew Dad was okay she woke Mom up. Mom gave Dad an ice pack for his ankle. She propped his foot up on pillows and tried to make him comfortable. When Mom was talking to Dad about what happened tonight, Milly quietly left the room. She went down to the family room and turned on the television. Milly was worried about the team and she could only hope they were okay. Milly had the phone right by her side, just in case Molly called her with an update.

Molly's discovery

Molly climbed up on the bricks and was looking through the window. It was grimy and hard to see through. She saw a couple guys working on cars over to the left of the door. She looked around the room and happened to glance up toward the ceiling. Molly's heart skipped a beat when she saw Rusty looking out of a broken heater vent. Molly was so thankful he was still alive. She wanted to call out to him, but that would be too risky. She wasn't paying attention to her precarious position on top of the bricks, when someone said her name. She lost her balance and fell backwards on top of Robert. She'd knocked the air out of him but after a few minutes he could breathe again. She hugged him tighter than she'd ever hugged him before.

Nice interesting action here Nancy. Dad certainly is not going to the play this evening's football (soccer) match. But things are moving thanks to Milly's pedal pushing!

I was worried as campers pick up rattlers thinking they are walking sticks! Then our team is in double trouble!

Molly and Milly may the dynamic duo but Molly is inching closer to Robert - what about a budding romance thrown in?

Thanks Nancy, it is recuperation time for Dad but the rest of the team are up to challenge - they have no respite or rather give no respite to the baddies! siva

Siva, thank you so much for the awesome comment as always. You know I think I like that idea about Robert and Molly and a budding romance. That is definitely a possibility. Great idea! I think the team needs a rest. They all may have to go home and recuperate for a little while. If they take a little time off I'm thinking Sally will be better and the team will be back in full force.

Stella, thank you so much for the great comment. You actually made me smile. I thought you might like the claw hammer in Milly's bag. That is what I call priceless. I thought it was pretty good when Milly had to push the pedal for Dad. Can you just imagine? When I'm writing these chapters sometimes Molly and Milly make me laugh.
