This entails a short visit toward entering the world of PWDs and embracing them with a smile.

Embracing The PWDs

Special Education has just been slowly being known to every individual in different societal levels. It is something most taken for granted or not given so much attention by the majority of people. It is not very known especially to the less fortunate ones to the point that they become helpless to the fact of raising a special child.

As one aspiring special education teacher, I visited a very good institution together with my cluster members. I didn't know anything about this before. In fact, there are only very few institutions existing in our province that address the needs of these special children.

The rampant discrimination and maltreatment of these special people are very disappointing. The abuse they get are not healthy and helpful. They need understanding, support, education, and training to be able to stand on their own feet.

A visit to this certain institution opened my heart and mind even more to embrace the subjects of my goals in life. I said goals in life because in the years that I lived and for the coming years, I promised to the higher being and to my family that I will build an establishment or an institution that will cater the needs of these people. One that will be run by them. As a part of my steps, I enrolled myself in a special education class and started immersing to their specific communities.

It was not easy. The pain I felt as I saw the least happy and less fortunate ones were drilling up to my bones. But it was very heat-warming to realize that something like AVRC - Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center exists to address them. It was overwhelming to see their smiles and comfort enjoying the environment.

AVRC

This institution is giving trainings to qualified individuals. As what has been said during the orientation, not everyone in Cebu knows it's existence. The speaker even reminded us to spread the good news to give hope to a lot more individuals. I was lucky to have been a part of the cluster who immersed there. I immediately thought of writing this piece on Triond. This is the purpose of my living. This is the purpose of my writing.

You mention that you wish to build a centre for special people. Do you still dream of such a place? I have had the same thoughts and am looking for helpers.
