A beautiful auburn haired girl is charged with the job of taking care of her two little brothers. The German's are traveling on the same road the children and their sisters is on. A bush is on the road which gives the necessary cover for the young girl and her brothers. A private is charged to take a look and secure the area. A strange event occurs as the private and the young girls eyes meet. Is it love or hate? Compassion has risen in his heart ......

Hiding in the bushes

As the sun came peering over the horizon Julia and her two little brothers had reached the edge of the city. Mom sent them out of the house really early this morning. It was still damp outside and the smell of rain still hang in the air.

Looking at the city behind them Julia took hold of both her brothers hands ‘Come boys, we need to walk a little faster.’ Almost dragging them forward she got them to move forward. Her mother urged them to leave early as rumors were doing the rounds. The Germans are in the area and little Jewish kids are on their lists.

‘Julia, please take us home.’ The blond boy asked with tears streaming down his cheeks. ‘Darling, David we cannot go back right now.’ She cupped his face between both her hands and pulled both David and Samuel close to her. Hoping she would be able to keep them safe.

In the distance gun fire could be heard, someone was creaming and the sun was starting to make its appearance. Finally after comforting both her brothers they kept walking but not too close to the road. In the distance Julia could see vehicles coming closer.

Rushing into the bushed area, Julia pulled bother her brothers close to her. Urging both of them to keep quiet, hoping their little moans won’t draw attention to where they were.

The soldiers were walking behind the tankers and talking. Some of the men were smoking and laughing. ‘The town ahead of us is known for hiding Jewish people; I cannot wait to get my hands on those little brats.’ One of the soldiers said while illustrating what he was going to do to the child. The Sergeant turned around and looked at him saying under his breath ‘will you shut your mouth private.’ We are entering the most volatile area and you are plotting how to kill a small child. Cloths covered in mud and dust they kept walking forward. As the came closer to the clump of bushes the Sergeant commanded ‘Liebenberg, going and investigate, see if there are anything in the bushes and report back to me.’ Private Liebenberg walked towards the area where Julia and the two boys were hiding.

He walked through the bushes and looked everywhere and then their eyes met. Julia’s green eyes met his blue eyes. Both of them retaliated a little. A slight shriek escaped her mouth. He moved closer and placed his hand over her mouth. ‘Shu, don’t say anything. What are you guys doing here?’ He asked with eyes wide.
As he lifted his hands from her mouth she spoke softly ‘please sir, don’t hurt us. We need to get to the next town. Our family has been bombed and we need to find our relatives.’ The urgent plea met his compassionate heart. How could he give this beautiful auburn haired girl?

Not sure what to do the private stood up and walked out of the bushes. The sergeant called out to him ‘and, is there anything to report?’ He came closer and looked through the bushes but saw nothing. ‘No, Sir. All clear on this side.’

Interesting. While my Julia and her two brothers were left on their beds to face another bomb raid, we find her walking in the fields with her brothers. Is it a drea? It'd be necessary to read parts one and two that will give hints. No longer than the site requirements.
