Faith: How important is it to living from love?

Jesus Christ, in his teaching, placed a great emphasis on our faith.

In order for him to perform his good works for us, he relies at least partly in us connecting to him through our faith in him.

Without this faith, it is harder it seems for his love to reach through to us.

In fact, when we are not receiving his love, by our blocking its transmission by a lack of faith, it could be said then that we are sinning by our doing this.

This article discusses all of this further.

Faith and sin

I was reading recently something that Billy Graham, the renowned American Christian evangelist once said.

He said that if you don't have faith, you are sinning, or in other words, if you are not living from full unconditional love, you are making more karma, and this might mean the same thing.

Is this true though as it does seem a bit harsh to say this?

Faith brings you closer to God.

Lack of faith doesn’t so much keep you away, as the real truth is that really, you are never away from God.

Lack of faith just holds a blanket of karma or sin between you and God, so that his love is held off in a way, and it is absorbed by this rug instead. But then, as the blanket of karma fills up with love, love then creates a new lesson for you then to try to reduce, or to obliterate its effects on you.

Not loving totally is part choice, but it's also partly a lack of understanding, or of reaching the wisdom of the “obtainal” of a higher consciousness, and a greater understanding.

All of these things grow into greater fruition in you as you grown wisely forwards from experiences with love not ignored or turned your back on.

When a lesson is not learnt, and when love's energy then goes into the blanket of karma, instead of into increasing your consciousness, love then fashions a new lesson for you, in a new way.

Love does this to try to get the same lesson through to you again in this different way, so that in the end, finally, at last, you will always end up growing forwards into this greater understanding.

Each person's rate of growth is different though, depending on lots of differing factors, and on their unique part of God, and what it is, personality wise, and growth wise, and also purpose or mission wise, for, in regards to, God's purposes for that particular part of himself.

“Faith is a state of openness or trust.”

This quote is from the British-born writer, and philosopher, Alan Watts (1915 to 1973).

Opening yourself up to faith, lets faith open you up to God.

“Faith opens a 'window' to the presence and working of the Holy Spirit.”

This is a quote from Pope Francis, the current pontiff, or head of the Catholic church.

Poetry: Faith restores anything that needs restoring!

Is faith really just a cycle that we ride upon to rise,
above the repeating patterns of strength & weakness?
No, real faith is more than that, it can be constant,
& even more, it can continually grow in us, in its size.

Faith lengthens itself in you, whenever you truly love,
but the weaker you are in your living from your faith,
the more it recycles itself from the love in God above,
into your heart trying to create a new start of itself in you.

Faith is always trying to restore itself in you, like this,
and this is because faith is innate within you, God's kiss.
Do not deny it, have faith, remain ever faithfully true.
Darkness is not darkness, when you have faith, in you.

Faith is an answer for you, whenever you have doubts,
and if you follow your doubt, instead of keeping faith.
Faith doesn't make things right, just as you want them,
faith will restore what is right, as it's seen right by God.

Faith and fear

Fear could be said to be simply the mistaken identity of a part of love that has been labelled as fear, because God's full and perfect unconditional love is not being fully and consciously understood, or comprehended as yet.

All of this happens, not because you block love, but it is more about the fact that unconsciously you already fully know love, but despite this, you are only now coming to know it consciously.

This is because it takes faith to consciously know love.

God's love is always available to all of us unconsciously, but to accept it consciously takes faith. When we do this though, our faith grows then, even as our consciousness also will grow and expand itself towards us knowing God fully consciously as well.

This state of perfect faith being matched with perfected conscious love, is named by the spiritual masters as being what they refer to as a God conscious state, or as a person exhibiting, or living from God consciousness.

One who is afraid has not sufficient faith to overcome their fears.

Lack of faith accounts here to our being imperfect from love. We are all made or created perfect in love, and in God's own image, but we move away from this through lack of faith. With enough faith, we would know that we could move away the mountains of fear that we ourselves have created.

When we do this we see God once more again within our own selves. His image is always there. It is we that just cover it over with our fears. When we do this, even more fears are reflected back to us, and we do not see the underlying love that is always still right there behind even all of our fears.

God is perfected love. There is no fear in God, nor in his love.

This proves therefore that it is always only ever ourselves who have created our own fears for ourselves. This is always because of our lack of faith in God's perfect, and always sustaining love.

There is no fear in love, but there is also no fear in real faith. This is the test of our faith.

This next bible verse is to be found in the book of John. It is from 1 John, chapter 4, and verse 18.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."

We must strive then to become perfect in love, and the only way that we can ever do this is to try and maintain our faith!

the tenet is that sin is the separation from God, and so Billy Graham is correct in his usage of the term.

I never many unbelievers who love deeply and are great people they just do not believe in a God. Don't get me wrong because I am a Christian and proud of it, but I find that in general Christians tend to feel superior to others of a different mind set and think that they have all the answers and the only answers that is correct.

thanks Carol,

I admit myself that I have none of the answers, but I sure like to speculate about what I think are some of the possible answers.

In feminism, and I am a feminist, we believe that all points of view are part of a mosaic of human intellect. All points of view are part of that mosaic and have a rightful place in the tapestry of wisdom. That does not mean we have to embrace every point of view. We will gravitate towards the ones which resonates with us.

Yes that's right too I think, I certainly gravitate towards the views that most closely match my own thinking I think.

"God's love is always available to all of us unconsciously, but to accept it consciously takes faith" well said Spirited, that drives home the truth.

We should always be aware why we are here, on whose behest, and try to rise to the occasion when the call comes.

We have to listen for the call that may come anytime, but some don't hear to let go spiritual upliftment.

How we react to situations have the basis on the faith we have on the supreme being. It is a two way process and it should be kept well oiled by continuous awareness - siva

thanks siva, if the wheels aren't oiled, they won't spin for us.

We need to oil them as you say, continually, awarely, and not let them rust away.

Great analogy.

Thanks spirited for another thought provoking post. I don't like what is often called blind faith. As children we believed what were told but often start to question as we grow older. The apostle James said that faith without works is dead and later he says, show me your faith without your works and I will show you my faith by my works. Faith I think means love expressed.. Blessings.

Yes thanks Kingwell, that's a pretty good definition for faith, love expressed, I would agree with that.
