They mythical unicorn is a symbol of purity and healing, just as a Christian should be a representative of Christ. This poem depicts a creature of light who has strayed from its true purpose.

"How are the mighty fallen..." II Samuel 1:19

Born of purity and light
Silver glow against the night
Reaching out in love to heal
This is what makes unicorns real.
Their paths may lead through storms of fire
Bearing loads of which they often tire -
But after each and every trial
They’re rewarded with their Master’s smile.

But what of those who fail each test?
Who never seem to find the rest
That comes by leaving self behind
And letting love control their minds?
Hateful, angry, selfish souls
Losing sight of their true roles;
With twisted, darkened horns as knives
They slash at others in their lives
And though their hearts may burn in shame
They do not stop their lethal game.

What hope is there for such as these?
One wonders while upon her knees…
