Felipe finds employment and agrees to continue living with his cousin and her family. Jordan and Felipe face a dilemma.

Exctement for all.

Phyllis saw the boys getting off the bus and guessed from their demeanor that the news was good, yet she knew that they were excited to tell her and had no intention of ruining the moment for them. Jordan was the first one through the door unable to hold his excitement. "Felipe starts work in the morning" he cried, almost dancing with glee. Felipe was right behind him grinning from ear to ear and more excited than she had ever seen him. Phyllis smiled and hugged her cousin "I'm not at all surprised" she said, "I've heard a lot of good things about you including the fact that you've won scholarships for the past two years and will probably win again for grade twelve - why any company would be lucky to get you"! Felipe blushed at the praise and replied "now I have to prove myself in the real world - and I have to say that under all this excitement is one scared boy. I can't imagine how I'm going to feel in the morning - I probably won't sleep a wink tonight". Jordan laid a hand on Felipe's shoulder, "don't worry", he said, "I know you'll do great". Melissa, sensing the elation had been jumping up and down, "mommy, mommy can I tell daddy, please mommy please" she exclaimed as she pulled on her mother's apron strings. "Of course you can tell daddy sweetheart- that is if those two don't give it away before you get a chance - if your smiles were any bigger it would chop off your head - now go watch TV and Melissa will keep an eye out for her father". As the little girl ran to the window the boys sheepishly turned and upon entering the living room they realized that the TV channel had already been on the air for almost fifteen minutes! Although it was one of their favourite shows neither boy could get into the story. In a matter of minutes they heard Melissa shouting that daddy was here and then the opening of the door as she ran outside calling “cousin Felipe is going to work in the morning daddy - isn't that great!"

Jordan's Concern.

John congratulated Felipe but didn't appear surprised, apparently he too had heard of the young man's scholastic achievements. It was while they were eating that Jordan abruptly fell silent as if struck by something he hadn't thought of before. Both of his parents noticed how he had suddenly become quiet but it was Phyllis who immediately understood what was happening. John and Phyllis had been concerned over their son and his seeming inability to make friends and were delighted with the change that had come about in the few short days since Felipe's arrival. Obviously Jordan was thinking that since Felipe now had a job he would soon be moving out. John followed when Phyllis went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea but soon returned and during the next commercial break he spoke to Felipe saying that they hoped he would continue to live with them even though he had found employment, after all it would give him the chance to save a little money and perhaps he could help Jordan with his studies when school opened in September. Jordan's face lit up like a Christmas tree at the suggestion from his father and when Felipe said he was in no hurry to move out and would be pleased to help Jordan in any way he could, the boy was soon back to his jovial self. Felipe was excited to tell his parents and unable to keep his mind on the show went to the bedroom that he shared with Jordan and wrote his mother a six page letter using the paper, pen, envelopes and postage stamps that she had carefully packed in his suitcase. Still excited but also a little nervous about the job waiting for him in the morning he returned to the living room where the others were in stitches over the antics of the three stooges.

A restless night for both boys.

Neither Jordan nor Felipe were tired when they undressed for bed and continued to talk in excited whispers long after they had turned off the light. Felipe had managed to control his desire to hug the handsome boy lying beside him but every night it had driven him to the bathroom before he could get to sleep. Tonight was especially difficult however and he wondered if his cousin had ever indulged in horseplay and considered asking him but decided against it since John and Phyllis slept just down the hall so any "carrying on" between the boys would easily be overheard. Unbeknown to him however, his cousin was experiencing the same thoughts! Lying next to his best friend, Jordan too was consumed by a love that was literally tearing him apart! He longed to be able to tell him how he felt, to embrace him and to fall asleep cuddled in his arms but his pounding heart and the nightly erections which he had so far been able hide from Felipe, reminded him that there were other needs as well. Twice during the past three years a group of his tormentors had held him down in the locker room at school and exposed his private parts for all to see. The last time was in May of the previous year and was particularly embarrassing due to the fact that he had gotten an erection! He had not returned to class that day or the next choosing instead to remain in bed complaining of a headache. Little was said when he did return however, since some of those involved were concerned that they had gone too far. They did not want the matter reported to the principal for fear of expulsion nor did they want him discussing it with their parents. For Jordan however the fact that he had found the experience exciting as well as embarrassing made him loath himself even more. This however, he knew was different. He had no desire to humiliate or embarrass Felipe but just to be with him - to love him and to know that he was loved in return. Once again Jordan became angry with himself and was sure that Felipe would move out tomorrow if he could read his thoughts!

Good that Felipe is well on his way towards a stable job and career. Hope Jordan will also do likewise over time despite his doubts about his sexuality, thanks Kingwell for a realistic take - siva

I have never thought of writing running serials like this.

I guess you have to keep notes or outlines of plots and all that stuff or do you just wing it, but then you must record the character's names.

Looks like a good book in the making here.
