While his logical mind tries to convince him otherwise, Felipe is certain that he has received a message from Andrew.

Who would understand?

Felipe was barely out of bed when he began doubting everything about the experience! The thought that he had seen Andrew and that he had been given a message was crazy -wasn't it? Surly he had been dreaming or it was all his imagination! Who would believe him anyway? He was sure that everyone would laugh at him if he spoke of having a vision or even a dream - no it was better to say nothing. Deep down however, Felipe knew that he could not dismiss it that easily. However irrational it seemed to others, he was sure that he had communicated with his late friend. He knew that there would be doubts, times when his logical mind would try to convince him otherwise - just as was happening right now - but he also knew that however much he tried to ignore it and cover it up, that knowing would always be there. The question now was should he mention it to anyone? He so much wanted to tell someone - but who? Maybe his mother would understand-or even Mona. One thing was certain he couldn't keep it a secret forever!

Deliah is surprised by the change in her younest son

Delilah was surprised when Felipe came down for breakfast at 7 o'clock. It wasn't that he liked to sleep-in, in fact he was often up at six but she hadn't expected to see him so early this morning. She also noticed that he was looking better than he had last evening and moved quickly to get his breakfast. Felipe remained silent as he ate the porridge sweetened with molasses followed by a cup of tea. His mother was already heating water on the stove to wash clothes, so he immediately took the buckets to the well to refill the water barrel by the side of the house. Afterwards he chopped firewood and filled the box in the porch. He knew better than to ask to help in the house as that was a woman's work. His mother hadn't mentioned Andrew's death but seemed relieved that at least he wasn't hysterical this morning. George had told her that he knew Felipe hasn't slept much, so she was pleasantly surprised by her youngest son's actions. Perhaps he had made up his mind that he couldn't change anything and decided to accept it. Knowing Felipe as she did however she felt that there was more to this than met the eye.

Mona becomes curious

Mona arrived shortly after nine and was also happy to find Felipe more relaxed. Seeing her brought thoughts of Andrew flooding back however, and they both embraced and wept. Delilah was happy to see Mona as well and said it was okay for them to talk in Felipe's bedroom, but warned them to leave the room door open. "If someone comes in and the two of you are in the bedroom with the door closed, they'll think I'm running one of them bad houses like I've heard some people have in St. John's". The two lay on Felipe's bed and chatted but Mona was soon convinced that there was something different about Felipe. Yesterday he was screaming in his denial that Andrew was dead and today he appeared quiet as if his mind was somewhere else. Curiosity was getting the better of her yet she did not want to push it, better to let Felipe tell her when he was ready.

Felipes shares his vision

Indeed Felipe was thinking of telling Mona about his vision, dream or whatever it was. He knew that he couldn't keep it to himself any longer and Mona was the logical choice. She was, he was sure, a sincere friend otherwise she would not have been here yesterday and again this morning. It was after a long silence that without looking at his companion, he suddenly blurted out, "do you think it's possible to see someone after they die"? Mona, who had not been expecting the sudden outburst, was somewhat taken aback. "Well, I've heard of it but I'm not sure if I believe it - does anyone really believe all those ghost stories that people tell"? "Well, it isn't really like that - but I guess it is in a way - it's not about scaring anyone though - if I tell you something will you promise not to laugh at me or tell anyone else"? His friend nodded - actually she was pleased that Felipe trusted her- "Of course I won't laugh at you and I would never tell anything that you asked me not to tell". Felipe looked relieved. "Well" he said, " I saw Andrew this morning and I don't think I was sleeping, it was only for a second but he was smiling and looking very happy - he didn't speak either but he gave me a message". Mona stared, "What do you mean, he gave you a message - I thought you said he didn't say anything". Felipe shook his head. "I don't know how - I just know he told me that he was fine and that I must carry on with my life. He said that everything would be fine for me too". It was all too much for Felipe, and he was crying again. Mona held him and found herself weeping too. How, she wondered would she handle this …

Sorry that this story is progressing so slowly but it is a work in progress and I have had some health problems recently. The other posts that I've published here were written some time ago.

Slow and steady Kingwell, you should also enjoy the ride like we do reading it. Hope your health is okay now. I do believe in getting messages from those who were close to us and when we earnestly seek comfort and guidance - siva

Thank you Delicia. I am starting to feel better, but 2014 has not been one of my best years so far - perhaps when spring finally arrives - it will help. Happy you are enjoying the story.
