A poem about a boy growing into a man while losing the innocence of youth.

Floating Away

When I arrive at the beach.
On a hot summer day.
I take off my shirt.
Showing off my cute little chest.
And my bronze skin.
Running across the hot sand.
And into the sea.
I love swimming in the water.
With my skin sparkling in the sun.
I slowly sit in the foam
And with a smile.
I let the cold water wash over my chest.
With my arms stretched out.
And my head held back.
I lean back and float.
Over gentle waves.
Washed over lightly.
I move with the tide.
I feel the cool sea breeze.
And the warm summer sun.
I watch the sky and clouds.
As they drift by.
Floating in a sea of bikinis.
Of many different colors.
Of many sizes and shapes.
Then as I float out to sea.
People wave to me from shore.
And from their boats.
A boy floating by.
