Flower, flower, why must you die..

It seems so unfair to give those large bouquets that are painstakingly arranged, when nobody really gives a second glance to it? Did you notice? And the numbers of bees has dwindled in the process.

I think we need to bring down our usage of flowers for expressing our emotions

God has given us tongue. He has given us ability to write, type, whatever. So communication is not a big deal, is it?

I saw those foreign delegation meetings, seminars, weddings, functions, meetings of political parties, and even in prayers. We take a perverted pleasure in destroying that beautiful creation of god. At times the flowers are woven and hung on walls at weddings.

I was wondering when nobody really notices those flowers, why do we waste monies on them? But all political party leaders exchange large bouquets out here. Customary.

Every single flower is beautiful. If you look at it. So one flower would suffice. If a person needs to use more than one flower, for decorating an arrangement, he or she needs to be thrown out of job.

Right now, we are in crisis situation. Bee populations have dwindled. It may not be because of humans misusing flowers. It may simply be because of some bee disease epidemic like AIDS or pollution that is making them infertile. Whatever be the reason, if their numbers come down, food production will get tougher. Should we not then leave those flowers on that plant for uninfected bees to get enough food?

And if necessary change the flower gardens into food gardens. Because nobody survive only on flowers, even if they were edible varieties.

Every species has a crucial role in our well being and in the creative process. But we get carried way that we only matter little realizing others play even more important roles. Thanks for the highlight, Vandana - siva

A few years back, it was a fad to send virtual flowers, cakes, and such. I say we bring back that fun fad!! ;)

Today I read an article in the Wall Street Journal that a certain disease has spread in the USA and the production of honey has reduced. The farmers' income is in the downward swing and the scientists have been called to study the problem and fix it. Yet shops selling flowers etc are doing business as usual.
You have a point. One eminent Telugu poet wrote a long poem about the lament of flowers. It's an immensely popular poem.

You have raised a valid point. I also appreciate your sensitivity. I think you should turn to activism. Unfortunately, cut flowers today is a flourishing industry of billions of dollars.
