Under the Bridge is really quite a revelation,
I enjoy this time; I write on walls and scraps of paper
Stay with Wikinut and earn maybe stars and points
Other sites may pay money and at least rules make sense.

I share my space with an old Wikinut man
He is dirty and drunk and his name is Stan
We read each other's work with due respect
Our work is not insulted with abusive text.

This introduction precedes my comments about Wikinut's lack of rules and policies.
.

Warnings and Reporting Abuse.

I am sure that Wikinut.com works hard to ensure that the site is enjoyed by all members, but by enforcing the following rules, then I personally would feel that my work is respected and that I am being fairly treated. As these terms and rules are not in place on Wikinut, I prefer not to waste my efforts on this site.

All the following terms and rules are not, in the most part, included on Wikinut.com.
If they were, I would feel safe in continuing to write on Wikinut.

If a member violates the terms, warnings are sent via Private Message from the site host. The topic of a warning will include the word "Warning". If a member receives two warnings from a site administrator, it will lead to an automatic system ban based on computer identification. The site administrator has an option to ban a member without warning where appropriate.

Terms and Warnings

All the terms of the site are enforced. These are specific areas where a member can report a problem.

1. Personal attacks are not permitted. If you feel a review (or a forum post) is a personal attack you should contact the administrator. If it is a personal attack the administrator will delete it. The member that made the attack will be warned, also In the case of a comment which is a personal attacks on the author. Attacks on the work - even harsh attacks - are permitted. If a comment is not a violation of site policy but is offensive to the author, the author has the option to remove the work from public view. That will, in turn, also remove all comments from public view. Normally authors are required to leave works up for three weeks but if offended by a review the work can be removed from public view prior to reaching that three week period. Authors should be aware that doing this will also impact the authors rating and ranking since the work will no longer be considered.

2. If a reviewer is writing generic comments on your work and other works in a small period of time, you have the option to contact the site administrator to request removal. If it is apparent that the works are not being read the administrator has the option to delete the reviews. The reviewer will lose the points and member dollars earned. The reviewer will be warned.

Additional Warnings

In addition, an author can receive a warning if:

1. An author posts a story, poem or chapter as "New" when it is a revision (even if heavily revised). The work will be removed and the author warned. Revisions are encouraged but only on the original publication.

2. Copyright violations will result in an immediate ban and may lead to further legal action. Only post it if you wrote it.

An important question, "Who is Wikinut's site administrator?"

Is Wikinut a Respected and Entrusted Site?

No doubt personal experiences differ.

I prefer to write on a site where the above terms and conditions are applied.

I do not feel secure about continuing to write on Wikinut and look forward to finding a site where I feel respected and valued.

I have fond memories of friends on Wikinut but the insults and abuse I have received over the past few months outweigh a decision to remain on these pages.

Obviously, my defensive attitude brought down horrendous, verbal onslaughts. I was advised to ignore personal insulting remarks but it is not in my nature to do so. I always defended myself but never resorted to the abusive and insulting language used against me. I still see a face on my 'Follow List' who has threatened me and he has told me that the reason he is on my 'Follow List' is to remind me that I remain threatened.

I wish everyone else well and might just come by once in a while to read some of my favorite authors' pages.

Welcome back Ivy.
Authors can delete comments so there is no need to report them and have somebody else delete them.

As long as there will be writers there will be differences of opinion. I think sometimes people get too passionate in how they express their differences of opinion, but then again... if we disallow freedom of expression - what have we become as a people - health debate is important, but personal attacks should be kept out of an attack of opinion.

I should add in regard to legal action for copied material - it is not the site owners who are in charge of this but rather legal action can only be taken by the original owner or writer. Wikinut allows writers to republish their own articles here, the can change them if they want to but do not have to. They cannot copy other people's articles although this often does occur we try to prevent it.

Happy to see you again, Ivy. I understand where you are coming from but as a dear well wisher, may I request you to take it little easy? I have never been personally attacked but I welcome healthy differences of opinion made in good taste. When I get an offensive comment, which both know it is, I settle the issue diplomatically and let others be the judge. That effectively ends the issue.

Frankly, I have not encountered any personal animosity or bias here though some make their views rather bluntly at times - siva

Thank you, siva, and I appreciate your welcome. So often, it became obvious that I was not going to be allowed to "settle the issue diplomatically". For some reason I definitely became a target and there are those who have the "pack attitude" and when they see someone being "kicked around" they enjoy joining in. The same names followed each other in insulting me.
Thank you, siva. You are one of the authors I need to keep in touch with.

I respect your comments, Mark Gordon, but they do not compensate or reassure me that my work will be treated with respect. Also, comments I make, although made with my honest opinion, were often attacked irresponsibly by the author(s) of pages without consideration of another point of view. Sometimes, I tried to turn the comments on the page to take on a humerus tone but this only inspired more insults and verbal abuse. "Getting too passionate in expressing a difference of opinion" does not mean that it is permissible to insult with vile language.
Please read (1) under 'Terms and Warnings". I cannot accept the level of disrespect and insults from some members of Wikinut, and I was definitely targeted because I refused to allow this. .I have been raised to defend myself and my name and never thought for one moment that I would have to deal with the abuse on Wikinut pages. .

Mark Gordon. Some authors DO NOT delete abusive comments but leave them on the page to add to my embarrassment and very hurt
feelings, especially when my illness was included in a derogatory way with the comments..

If somebody were to write on one of my articles "this is crap.. blah blah blah" I would not take it personally. Even if they were to write "You are crap... blah blah blah" again I would not take it personally, it is simply their opinion, and I would be silly to let it bother me when I could rather focus on the positive comments instead.

Mark Gordon: Certainly nobody would write, "this is crap.. blah blah blah" on your page. They would know better because you are a moderator and many still think you are a "Chief Moderator" or with a title something like that. Anyway, I was convinced you had a special title.. No body is going to write "You are crap... blah blah blah" because you have a following who would quickly jump to your defense. I had to stand alone and defend myself, and the original attacker had his bevy of supporters ready to pounce on me.

David: How much constant abuse could you take? I have found a site where the above rules are applied. Every time I write on Wikinut, I am attacked by a sick, abusive man. I had not even mentioned his name and there is his hateful comment. Of course it is not possible to get over something that is repeated over and over again. I had not mentioned his name, but now I will. Jerry Walch waits for me to write on Wikinut and then attacks me. None of you seem to care that a woman on this site is treated in such a hateful way. I guess there is no standard of decency on Wikinut.

I'll leave you alone as soon as you apologize to me I writing, you little twit. Until you apologize to me in writing, right here on Wikinut, publicly, I will be right here waiting for you to open your big fat mouth.

Perhaps you should ask yourself what it is about you that brings that hateful, evil man out, since you are only one on Wikinut that has brought him out of me. Of course that would require you to look at yourself in an honest, open manner and that is something you will never allow yourself to do.

"Personal attacks are not permitted. If you feel a review (or a forum post) is a personal attack you should contact the administrator. If it is a personal attack the administrator will delete it. I have no space for personal attacks. Differences of opinion, even when vehemently held are fine, but I was always taught that sinking to the level of a personal attack is one thing you should avoid at all cost; the reason - it invalidates your argument. By logical extension of that argument is that personal attacks should by their very definition be deleted.

I understand your views about changing the T&C's and do agree about the necessity of applying such rules. In the mean-time it is upto the author (or administrators) to remove such offensive material.

Thank you for your comment, Peter. I have never sunk to the level of a personal attack. I HAVE DEFENDED MYSELF without resorting to a personal attack. Your final paragraph is the answer but Wikinut just continues with the policy of not protecting authors from a personal attack. I realize that I am going around in circles, the same innocuous responses, i.e., David saying that he is sorry I remain wounded. Of course I remain wounded. Isn't it obvious that if you are hit with a baseball bat, you could very likely recover. However, if you are beaten again every time you stand up, then you probably will not recover. That is why I have to get out of this hornets' nest.
I came back to suggest some T&Cs for Wikinut but I honestly beginning to wonder about common sense on this site.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Peter should be administrator for Wikinut. I believe he could bring Wikinut up to a well recognized and respected site. He is a talented and skilled writer. His subject matter on every page is so informative and well written. He could put the T&C's in place.and Wikinut would become a top-class writing site. For goodness sake, let's get our priorities in order instead of limping along in our disreputable manner. Arguing and insulting, T&Cs not properly in place. No critiques on our pages, just a star here and there with no idea how they are earned.

Well young lady, we will take ya in Alabama, by the way, this is a free country, go where you want. Just do as I have done, worry about your views and yourself, stop by and see some of the friends you have made, when you are able and then...
Call it a flippin day. I have learned that if you want to write on this site, then you just ignore the bullshit. Support those that support you, I mean what the hell has a star or a flippin nut point ever did for me, other than making me chase a nut. Just do what you do, create and delete the bad shit. My daughter and her hubby now live in Texas, I have driven through a few times and I did get a speeding ticket in Amarillo once when the family went out west for our Vacation. The (lady) cop said to me "you might be able to (lived in Georgia then) drive like that in Georgia Ma'am but, we do not tolerate here in Texas. I said "yes Ma'am.".LOL
Keep your chin up and maybe those that visit your page, not to leave a comment that 'just' pertains to your article but, just to blast you, delete the shit. Have a great night. As always, thank you for sharing.:)

The problem is as I see it that - at the very heart of things people are entitled to their opinion, freedom of speech and so forth. The only way for Wikinut to stop things really would be to not allow any comments, however comments add a lot of value to a site and can really boost your SEO and if people take the time to make a comment you get more money for the view than if they quickly clicked off.

Let Jerry have his opinion, as much as you have yours, it is only HIS opinion and if you do not value Jerry as a human then his opinion should not mean anything to you.

You just called Jerry an Evil man, so do you expect him to take that too? It is your opinion...

"Perhaps you should ask yourself what it is about you that brings that hateful, evil man out".

I'm not even angry, just disgusted and disappointed. Denise compared my problem to being abused to that of getting a speeding ticket.
