Good Intentions versus Summer Heat

When the weather, hot summer weather, interferes with a writing schedule.

Started Well, Good Intentions

When I arrived back here after a two year break everything felt right. I felt comfortable, as if coming home after a long journey. I was ready to tend to my writing garden again. The writing was slow at first, but became easier as I persevered, remembering the rules, finding familiar faces. I was enjoying myself and, for me, that's what an online site should be all about. I didn't want to start meeting new readers, so finding people I knew were still here was reassuring.

So, What Went Wrong?

When I logged in tonight I was quite shocked. It's eleven days since I've been here. How could that be? I know I've been muttering to myself for days, I must get back on Wikinut, But I didn't realise I'd muttered for quite so long.
So, what went wrong? Where have I been? I haven't been completely missing in action. I've done a little quick, off the cuff type of writing, things that require little thought and little time. I've done some reading, planning and writing for my next book.
But none of those has been the major thing keeping me from here.

New Zealand's Hot Summer

The major problem has been summer, the hottest we've experienced in NZ for some years. And I don't like the heat any more than some of you like the cold. In my part of the country we've been consistently having temperatures of up around 29C or 84F. I'm just not used to that.
I feel like the unwatered plants in the garden. I've been wilting. My absence is as simple as that.

Back to Routine

But I can't use the heat as an excuse any longer, I can't put up a sign, gone fishing. It's time to re-establish routines. For most people here the summer holidays are over and school goes back next week. Life is getting back to normal, apart from this heat.
So here I am, attempting to restore some routine, in all areas of my life, not only writing.
It's time to get organised.

Lol, i am glad you are getting back to writing as actively as you can again, i also tend to use different excuses to justify my absence when i reduce my online presence.
