Hands

Yhis poem I wrote about hands is an allegory for a love story gone bad.

Hands

Hands can be nice or ugly,
old or young, large or small.
Hands can do good,
but they can also do harm.
For example, your left hand
with a ring on it made me cry
for a long time
even after the ring was gone.
My right hand lifted you up,
fed you and soothed you,
and loved you so much,
but you bit it and spit on it.
Your right hand, the one that
used to caress me in my sleep
was also the one
that typed those awful words.
My left hand wiped away
all the tears and sadness
and promised it would never again
let its twin be merciful and loving
to another pair of hands.

For the ring may not mean much in marriage you see,
It is more in the heart, mind and love free.
The ring is but the symbol of commitment shared,
In love and passion, living or dead.
For in love you can hold on to that ring,
With gentle chorus, anthems sing.
For tears can be that of love and joy,
Sadness yes, it makes all cry.
But its all up to you my friend,
You determine the beginning and the end.
