Harsh Snow Day

While snow is lovely in early winter when everything Is covered in glistening white, I wrote "Harsh Snow Day" after record snowfalls and frigid temperatures hit the northeastern part of the United States. I could not help but wonder how other people were coping with the snow and frigid temperatures. I wrote "No MO Snow" after snow had arrived unexpectedly one Monday morning and I found myself longing for springtime.

Harsh Snow Day

As darkness approaches

a dreary sleet ...persists

that snow couldn't silence -

i watch from my room

on the harshest of days

begrudgingly long...

when suddenly the teapot

...............jars me back

to the warmth of my abode

and i wonder how many

may not be so warm

on this given day -

a gift all the same

as wind and freezing rain

taps a harsh reality

onto my window pane.

No MO Snow

No MO Snow

I've had enough -

Again I awake

to slippery and white

to turn a Monday morning

impossibly slow_______

an inch maybe two, not enough

to call it a day

tiptoed in last night

as I scrape by

and defrost a car

fast asleep -

when soon a

truck will pelt it

with salt

while the morning rush

along with my mind,

will come to a halt.

Longing for Springtime

Oh how I long

for tulips in spring

where a carefree

heart can frolic and sing

and fragrant breezes

catch birds in flight

fancy and light

to take me away

and replace winter's

heavy harsh freeze....

Until then

please no MO Snow

thank you, I've had enough.
