Heartbreak & Sorrow

Short poem rooted in sorrow which helped me close the book on a certain aspect of my life.

My Shattered Dream

In my heart I hold a picture and it’s been there for so long
A picture of a little girl and she’s calling me her mum
Now the doctors tell me different, they say it could never be
That I’d never be expectant of that little girl I see.

They tell me I have options
There is treatment or adoption
How can I put my faith in these
When My Shattered Dream is all my mind sees

I see mothers all around, a lot younger than me
I see mothers, that are not fit to be
I see alcoholic fathers that beat upon there wives
The children seeing all and it wastes away their lives

I’m sorry I took for granted what I thought came naturally
I feel empty and deprived of my motherhood to be
I feel lost and unsure of what my future will now hold
I’m sorry that I’ll never get to treat my little girl like gold.

What can I possibly say, Faith, except that I feel now as Denise O. felt when she read these poems. My heart goes out to you.

Thank you all and I can say that I am truly fine now but thank you for your kind words.

I sometimes use poetry to help me close the door on something in my life and these helped me do that. Many thanks and I am glad you all liked them.

Your shattered dream !!
I too have dreams that were shattered and i use singing and certain songs to help me through the days and nights. But i have learned the hard way that life goes on regardless, and i hope my future one will be as good as my first one as we all have 2 lifes and its how we cope that matters most. Your poem touched my heart and i do understand, at least some of it so be strong and keep up the good work someone will notice your work one day and i hope it is soon xx

Thank you Lorraine and yes the hard way of learning is tough but I find it always works better to stop us making the same mistakes again (or helping others through the same issues) Thank you and I hope your right about my work :)

Hi Faith,You are lucky to be able to talk about your troubles, I think it is so important to get them off our chests,There are a lot of people who block it all in and never talk about their problems , After a problem shared is a problem halved, Well done.

MICKEY
There are some things that cant be repeated incase of hurting others but we all suppress things and it comes out when we get older and thats a shame we cant deal with them at the time but life goes on eh

oh, ditto Songbird. Such a sad, sweet story. The rhythm of the piece is perfect for the content. Wonderful work.
