Hidden Treasure

A poem inspired by the idea that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Hidden Treasure

Amongst the birches and cloned pines,
hidden behind lush green,
twisted desire on gnarled branches
rarely chosen to be seen.
Such common vision I’ll push aside,
search the untouched truth
beauty in the unique unnoticed
common ground of youth.

So perfect in imperfect beauty,
embracing life’s energy.
I step towards you, then step away
and wonder at my fear.
Stronger and truer than the forest,
your shade is warm and free.
Let me lean against your heart
and nourish you with me.
