Hitchhiking on the road of life

This is a poem I wrote when I decided to step out of my inertia and do something positive to change my life

Hitchhiking on the road of life

Roads into me,
Roads out of me,
Roads beside me.
Life is all a huge infrastructure
With highways and paths
That go up and down
And cross each other
Just to complicate the route
And make it more interesting.
Now I’m at a crossroads
Wondering again which way to go.
But it’s no use wondering,
Because straight ahead is the only way.
I’m tired of going back to my memories
And I’m tired of being on the side of the road
Waiting for a chance car to pull over,
Without me even hitchhiking,
And to take me to my destination.
So, this is it. I’ve made up my mind.
I’m putting on my best shoes
And setting out.
Going straight ahead, upwards,
With my right thumb up.
I know someone will come my way
And take me for the ride of my life.
