House of Dust (Poem)

We are a nation slowly being tricked into soft slavery, bringing down our once mighty house and nation. Soon, there will only be rust and dust in what was once a great place! We are accepting bondage!

House of Dust

Dust covered everything, the entire floor,
Dirt encrusted all the vile even more,
Chains, like rust snakes, were bolted in the floor,
Shackles on bones encircled all the poor;

The refrigerator held no more food,
But moldy was the inside where it stood,
Stench of decay was in the riven wood,
Hard to believe this was the best we could;

House, once of such hope, now bastion of bile,
Ushered in more shame in its falling pile,
Slav’ry, once banned, now freedom’s denial,
Chains, not locked, but slavery in mind’s file;

The government handouts were not so kind,
They played to our weaknesses of the mind,
Be cared for by family, friends opined,
But turned to make government fam’ly lined;

By trick and by guile the table was set,
The fed family would take care of pet,
You won’t feel the cold squeeze of hard chains yet,
Into slavery the feds would you get;

As you watched TV, and ate the free food,
You never noticed the change in your mood,
One day, although bonds you hated you booed,
The chains wrapped around you and you were glued;

Stuck in the house with nowhere else to go,
You ate the food, and sank in despair so,
Encircled by chains your freedoms forego,
They didn’t use guns, but mind they did blow.
