Here's how I got more than 1 million views for my Wikinut articles.

Getting Article Traffic

My statistics says I am 80,000 shy from getting 2,000,000 views. I tried checking out some of my Wikinut friends and I noticed that I am probably the only one with more than 1 million views.

Here are some tips you might want to try to increase your views.

1. Join Craigslist. Be a member of forums with millions of traffic in one month. Where can you find one? I am about to share something that might increase your traffic tenfold. Join Craiglist forums. It has around 45 million visitors per month . As soon as you become a member, you are given seven (7) days to be an active member before you are allowed to post your links. Use the seven days by getting involved with the most talked about topic. You can find it by looking for forum threads with the most comments. Be a part of it. DO NOT DROP YOUR LINKS at this stage. So how do you get traffic? Simple. As soon as you find the most popular topics, look for the person who started the thread. Its almost certain that his threads are highly active. Remember to follow him or them wherever they discuss a topic and side with them. Agree with them but be sure to share your own thoughts about the topic being discussed. Within three weeks, you'll probably find a common topic they will be discussing about. Its time to write. Write as many articles as you can and when you notice that a topic is started and one of your articles is related, its time to drop a link. Sometimes it will not be noticed but be patient. Stay active with the topic without dropping anymore links. One link per topic is enough. Stay active until you will be recognized and dropping a link will never be hard.

2. Grow your network. Write for someone else for free. You will find many bloggers looking for people to write for them. Offer your services for free. People can pay you back by being an active visitor of your articles and they promote your articles too for free. This is networking 101.

3. Promote outside publishing sites. Do not promote your work within Wikinut or other publishing sites. I have tried this with Triond and it failed miserably. The reason? People within publishing sites are not interested on your work. Their main objective is to promote their own work. In my case, I found an organization that likes to discuss mysterious events. I reached out and shared my thoughts about it for free and without referring them to my articles. When they noticed that I have something more to offer and started asking for my resources, I dropped tons of my article links to them and my views shoot like it will never go down. Remember, when sharing your articles to anyone, be sure to give more than they expected. Reveal more.

4. Find a niche to take advantage of. You should find a specific topic to talk about. Make sure majority of your articles are about that particular topic. When people notice your work and they like it, they will most likely look for more of your work and whala, more traffic. One good thing about maintaining a single niche is that your readers will be regular visitors who really like your work. Regular visitors are the best type of traffic. They read your articles over and over again. Some might even quote you in their blogs or websites earning you natural back links.

5. Do not submit your own articles to bookmarking sites and directories. You might not agree with me on this but the reason why bookmarking sites and directories exist is that for users to have an easy access to something that they like. The reason why you bookmark a link is because you want to look at it again in the future so when you bookmark your own article link and leave it there hoping for some people to stumbleupon upon it, you risk getting the link tagged as a dead link. Bad thing for search engines. Leave your readers to bookmark it if they like it.

6. Do not waste your time commenting on your friends work. The best thing to do if you really like your friend to be successful is to promote their work and tell them where you promoted it and asking them how it was and if it got them good traffic. In that way, you get to have someone else helping you promote your work too. I think this is called good karma.

There are many other tips but as for now this is what I can share. I will be writing more about this in the future and I hope you will learn one or two from it.

I wish you all the best and may you get more article traffic too!

This is good advice, IF people will follow it, so many are stuck in the routine. However your stats show quite clear, you have over 1 mil hits here, and only 50 pages, so must be doing something right!

I was not familiar with having a link labled a "dead link"

Hi, MC,

I had a look at Craigslists but there are hundreds of them. I looked into a couple of them but the forums looked the same. I would like to know if it is all the same which do you sign up or if you have signed up one, you have the access to all of them or you can give some good advice which is worth signing up. Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,
Ibolya
