How low, how far and for how long?

This is a fictional narration, the words came to me this morning, as i walked pass the Citizens Advice Bureau office and noticed the long queue of people waiting to get in, what struck me was the look of despair around them.

I then allowed my imagination run riot.

How did i get to this stage?

As i stood in the long queue of people waiting for the doors of the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to open. I gegan to wonder how, i got to this stage in such a short time. I had the best education and early career opportunities possible until my marriage started to crumble.
I had so much hope for a better life then, worked so hard, supported others when i could and my family was my first piority.
Unexpected family breakdown brought me health, emotional issues and a strange lack of focus, i lost the will and zeal to make things happen. I became a stranger to myself, fear wrecked havoc on me. Loneliness, loss of my confidence, became my companions, i just drifted by, unnoticed, uncared for, worse was the pressure of pretending to my children that things were okay.

Gradually, my boat overturned, i am helpless, i struggle to wake and stay up daily, i have no work, food and facing eviction, so i am embracing the last resort, i hope that i would find a listening ear in that office, get some food vouchers and be able to go to bed with food in my stomach and some words of hope in my heart.

As the doors open and i am ushered into the waiting room, i look at the other faces around me and wonder what their story is, how they may have reached this stage.
Perharps some are worse than me, some not as desperate, i wonder if deep down, any of them feel the uncertainity, humilation, confusion, which i feel as i ponder on how and what brought me to this level at this stage in my life.

The Citizens Advice Bureau

I do not know much about this organisation, but i am going to search for and find out about their activities after posting this article.
I am aware that they are a voluntary run and funded organistion which helps and supports citizens in the Uinted Kingdom, no matter what their "status" may be. They give advice, make referrals etc to people who need them and are facing challenges in life.
From the queue, i witnessed this morning, they must be doing a commendable job. We need more of such organisations in the society.

They are totally unbiased , and help anyone who has a genuine need .

Thank you for you sincere advice and words, Stella.
You are a kind woman. Yes the story is all fictional, but i would jot the name of the CAP organisation. As a Christian myself, i know that if i pay more attention to those around me, i just may be able to share this with some in need.

My heart breaks and wish there was something I could do, so far away and so down myself. Do you have food banks in the UK? Is there a church you could go to?

There are so many who need help today. Thankfully there are places like this where anyone can get help. There are many good people in the world who donate to food banks and the like. People who have little money need to be able to get free counseling as well. Congratulations on being author of the day! Blessings.

Thank you Kingwell. We can only continue to hope, pray and believe that things will get better and the people who need help and support will continue to get as much support as they can.
