How to Restore

A poem of someone demonstrating humanity and helping another person see there are good people.

How to Restore

Damaged from where the heart's been
Thrown around and kicked down again
A good thing comes and I throw it to the wind.

Taking it easy
Moving slow
A friendship that is true
Means the most
You're showing me how to restore

Emotionally shattered and left all alone
I'd pick up the pieces
To be beaten once more

Still not surrendered
But subcoming despair,
Nearing defeat
You unveiled humanity,
Revitalizing humility.

All feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated. I'm trying to better myself as a writer and a poet, and I can't accomplish that without the help of fellow writers and readers.

I do often like to write about events from my life, but not always. I like to keep my poems open to interpretation. Even though I may be writing about one thing in particular, I like to see how others might interpret it differently.

Realizing for oneself that there is good in the world is a giant step in personal growth; being able to convey that to others is a blessed gift.
