What are we going to do when it´s so hot that asphalt melts under one´s feet? Follow these tips to cool down and to enjoy Summer.

How to cope with a heat wave

Let´s start saying that I prefer Summer than Winter. It isn´t that I don´t like Winter, but being short of serotonin in my brain, I am a lot more cheerful and uplifted in Summer, but it doesn´t mean that heat isn´t going to affect me. It does, particularly when there is a heat wave that started in June, came from the Sahara dessert and reached to the Continent.
Tis my case and on top of this, the sea is miles away. Pools are, therefore, a sort of oases to get wet and cool down. One may go at a reasonably early hours before others have the same idea. It has to be a pool with plenty of trees and grass to lay in after one´s swim.
One´s to avoid the hours when the sun is at its hottest.
Hot beverages such as tea, coffee or herbal tea are a lot better for thirst and to keep well hydrated. I find a certain kind of Japanese green tea very good for thirst to be sipped out of small glasses.
When it´s so hot that the asphalt melts under one´s feet, one doesn´t fill like lighting a fire to cook, therefore, a blender will be on day in and day out to make all sort of cold and nutritious soups. I´ll only light a fire to fry some fish or to grill it as well as some vegetables.
One will go out late in the evening. But it won´t be until at least nine or ten in the evening when the sun is already departing to other lands.
Many people think that just because it is Summer, they can put on whatever they pull out of the wardrobe, but one can also be smart as well as cool and it´s desirable to see well dressed people in Summer no matter how hot it is.
It´s fine to want to show a bit of leg or shoulder in Summer, but we´re to remember that strapless bras where invented very long ago. It looks awful to go round showing underwear.
Say it is Saturday or Sunday. It´s so hot that one doesn´t have the energy to go out until at least sunset. One will have a bowl of a favourite cold soup, will nibble on cheese, ham or will open a tin of good sardines, will have some seasonal fruit (watermelon is best) Then, one will pull the blinds down to lay in semidarkness, listening to one´s favourite music provided isn´t loud one. For such a restful moment, Arabic singer Om Kalsum would be a good one.
Then, at sunset, it´ll be time for a cool shower to go out to see and be seen.
