Ways I look for inspiration in the things I know and in the everyday things that surround me. How to utilize the normal mundane and create something spectacular from it

Finding My Inspiration

Often times, when I decide to write something I find my mind is absolutely blank. That is when I start looking around me to try to find something to inspire me. Some of my most well like articles were based upon some of the most boring everyday tasks that I do or see everyday. I thought I would share some of the things that inspire me so that maybe you too could be inspired by the beauty that surrounds us. If only we take the time to stop and notice it.

Everyday Living

There is an enormous amount of suffering, poverty, and hardship that surrounds me. The majority of people barely are able to provide enough food for their families, and what little they provide is often only provided after great struggles to acquire it, but even though I am surrounded by such sadness and heartache, there is so much beauty. Even in the midst of despair, a child's laugh can change the most dire circumstances into joyous. If I choose, then I can just see the awfulness that surrounds me, but I much prefer to look for the beauty in it instead. If you look for the beauty, then you will find the inspiration, but if you never look for it, then you will never find it.

Nature

Nature also provides me with a vast amount of creativity and inspiration. Not only just the beauty of nature, but how each plant or animal interacts with the other. How certain flowers thrive in the most arid, inhospitable environments. By looking at nature like it was human and applying human characteristics upon nature, I am able to come up with some amazing stories filled with beauty, life, strength, and hope. I am really only limited by my imagination.

Animals

Normally I have a hard time writing humor. However after getting our cat, I realized I was constantly laughing at the things he would do or places he would get himself into. By using that I was able to start learning how to write humor. Later I would be able to incorporate what I had learned into my other stories. It allowed me to be able to write about very intense subjects but in a lighter way. Making my story more enjoyable for the reader and not so stuffy and serious. I also found that by incorporating this levity into more serious subjects I was able to engage a much wider audience than I previously had.

Open Your Eyes

These are just a few of the things I have used as inspiration for my writing. The possibilities are really limitless. Every moment that passes by is a story waiting for a writer to grab onto it. We have to be willing to open our eyes and ourselves to all of the opportunities that lie before us. Sometimes I also like to just sit and listen. Waiting, watching in silence as the world passes before me. By just stopping for a moment and becoming a silent observer, I am suddenly filled with so many wonderous ideas that I can barely write fast enough so that I don't lose them. I find if I just stop trying to force the writing that it will come on its own. Some of my best writing has come from those moments that I just let occur naturally.
