Since the advent of the motorcar, man has been plagued by the question: How do you remove the clamp off the wheel of your motorcar that some jerk officer slapped on there so you cannot move? Usually it's in spots that you're not allowed to park in, that you park in but they don't want your car there. So... if they clamp it and it cannot move, how are you supposed to move your car away from there? We discuss the issue.

How to remove the clamp off a wheel: Pay the fine

After two days in Cape Town, having played Car Delivery Fairy, it's time to fly back home. We have to fly now because we gave away the cars we came in.

I spot Danny K. on the plane. Danny K is a singer. I wonder if it would help if Harrison, who also makes music, could talk to somebody like that, or not really. Harrison would like to make a career out of his music. Somebody like this might help him, or it might not lead to anything. But anyway, Harrison is not here today.

When the plane has landed, and I stand at the open overhead compartment getting my bags, Danny K. asks me to hand him his bag too. Great! Now I've talked to Danny K. Or he's talked to me. I can cross that off my bucket list. If ever I decide to set up a bucket list and add Talking to Danny K. on it.

Father's partner at Rand Estate, Pine Greg, is so kind to come get us at the airport to take us to Rand Estate.

However, when we get to the car, we're not going anywhere - some officiallooking black guy is clamping the wheel.

Oh dear. He points to a sign. Which isn't very clear but the guy's obviously not negotiating. The sign indicates that vehicles left unattended at this particular point will be clamped.

Pine Greg insists he'll pay the fine since it's his fault, but Father nevertheless pays R300 of the R500.

Yeah, a horrid feeling to be welcomed with. But anyway, not too long after they went back inside the airport to pay the fine, they come back with a slip that they show to the guy and he unclamps the car.

We drive to Rand Estate to get Father's small car he keeps there, so we can drive home.
