A class of naughty students turned into top position holders in the Board Exams after hard work of both sides...Teachers and Students...

I am a Teacher...

I am a teacher by profession...
I Love my job and my students...
Teaching is my passion and it gives me inner satisfaction and pleasure on a daily basis.
I personally believe, Kids are like a writing board and you’re the writer, a teacher has a great chance to train a whole lot. Your students are your reflection.

It Was my First Chance!

I had been teaching up to grade 10 till last year...and this year I have been assigned to teach grade 11 as well...It was my first experience, so I kept on preparing my lectures at home and prepare myself for the college lectures by reading extra books of my subject and kept on using the internet for advanced knowledge.

A group of naughty girls

My new class consisted of 39 naughty and chatty students. To make them attentive was a big task for all the teachers.
They were really naughty, most of the time I had to send them to throw their bubble gums which they were chewing in the class room, it was a tough job to make them write on their notebooks... even sometimes they tried to dodge me for bunking the class but they were always caught ;))

My Tactics...

First of all I memorized their names and if somebody made some disturbance during my lecture, I would call her by name politely and ask her what was bothering her...and believe me it was proved successful ;))
Side by side, I tried to make my lectures more interesting. I used to prepare objective type questions, multiple choice answers, true and false statements and fill in the blanks regularly for the whole class... I used to take some oral tests as well.
During my teaching, I usually co-relate some incidents of the past with their daily life; I crack some light jokes too related to the topic, during my lectures...
I explain them the smart techniques of preparing for exams and day by day the class was becoming sensible :)

Finally...

Eventually they appeared in the board exams... After the two months of the exams the result was announced...
Hurrrrayyy!!!
The whole result was remarkable, my class had done a great job!!
Believe me not only in the first time of my school's history, but in the entire board it was a history making moment...all three top positions were claimed by my class!!
and in my subject no one got below 69%...What an achievement !!
The authorities announced a cash prize equivalent to one academic year's fee to the toppers :)

Our services have been recognized!

The management declared all subjects' result of the said class as excellent! We have been awarded a Certificate of Merit, for outstanding performance along with a cash prize yesterday!!

My wife is also a teacher even though she is a qualified barrister. Teachers do a lot in the society. If not for my teacher, Miss Egbuna, I would have been a drop-out. However, today, I am a professional. Read my profile to know which profession I belong to.

My mother is also a teacher and indeed teaching has many ups and lows but when you see how many lives you have changed, it is all worth it...
