I Love You Mom

A good mother is one of the most important people in a son's life, a father is the other but, this letter goes out to my mom, she is on my heart tonight.

Dear Mom

Mom you believed in me the minute you found out there was a baby growing inside of you, you put up with my crying, spit-up, dirty diapers, and sore nipples providing food and a bond that is so important for a mother and son to have. You rushed me to the hospital when I needed stitches over my left eye because I was jumping on the bed, jumping on the bed when you asked me to stop, jumping on the bed when I was supposed to help you find the remote control, and jumping on the bed before my body leveled and I hit the corner of that mini-dresser. I was a bouncing baby boy literally -- bouncing off the walls, out of control, you tolerated me -- even my tantrums.

I was a terror in school, I had learning disabilities, a dreamer, a boy in his own world of fantasy. You had to deal with the heartbreak of listening to teachers tell you about why I went to the principals office -- "class clown", "acting up", "angry outbursts". You had to hear teachers tell you that I was falling behind in class, that I wasn't doing well, and that I should probably go into the learning center for tutoring. When in high school you had to witness me mix with the wrong crowd and slip through the cracks. Domestic disputes and yelling matches became ever so real, and then your heart broke yet again watching me go to boarding school, miles away from you, my mom.

It didn't stop there, I have had my battles with substance abuse, no direction, lost, and with a visible rock bottom. I have mental problems, I'm terrible with money, but, you don't care, you never cared about all that crap. You saw me through all of it. You love your baby boy and you know he loves you too.

My vision

One day mom, and I've said this before, I'm going to give back, I'm going to make you proud, I'm going to be successful, and I'm going to share my rewards with you. You will always have my love, I hope you will always know that but, I have taken more than I have given and it's time to SHOW you how much I love you. I need to be there for you in your times of need and struggle -- like the time you paid for a lawyer and paid for me to get out of the trouble I got into. Three different cases, several charges. You were there. I would not have made it in this world without you, your heart has saved me from myself millions of times. I could go on and on with everything you've done and witnessed, but, there isn't enough time in the rest of our lives to list them all.

Just know that I have a vision for me just for you...

I love you

I love you mom -- it's hard for me to express it, it's hard for me to show it, it's hard for me because I'm having a hard time living within my own skin. I just know that I know that I love you because of the feeling I have when I think about how you've nurtured me -- from May of 1974 to present, without cease, without fail. The most loyal and faithful human in my life, I love you mom...
