“Deep roots are not reached by the frost.”

-J.R.R Tolkien

This is a poem inspired, to keep our dreams safe from the stour, let tranquility seep into the stirrings of our hopes.

"I command you to thrive." (later on prodding) "I need you to live."

Scarred fingers creep
delving deep into the paths of yesterdays.
Like tendrils teasing the cheek
hairlike strands extended link the memories.

An icy mask frozen in place
shallow in its reach cold to the touch.
Frozen rivulets have laid waste to
the symmetry of the forgotten spring.

Burdened

Its sullen look is weighted by pride,
as it wages war against the earthy undertones,
but in the comfort of a smooth caress,
the deadened cold loses its sting.

Here it keeps, the solace
the warmth invokes it lives.
Each buried dream thrives
against the looming threat or despite.

Surface Fallacy

Those pieces of hope that escaped--seeped,
nurture the burrowing wishes, ideas in infancy.
When the surface tells a graveyard's story,
the below sustains and brings growth to life.

Planting themselves below the guise
they seek, spread and twine.
Strong resilience in roughened husks of life,
their exteriors are stalwart in design.

In My Quiet I Live, I Bloom

Bury me, bury me 'neath the darkened corridors,
the drafty halls like water corrode the objects in their way.
My dreams need their hiding places to flourish
against the nay'sayers thoughtless deluge.
Safe in the solace of secrecy
that allows no chafing cold to fritter them away.
