A poem about the act of kissing. Pressing lips together. It had been so long I had almost forgotten what it felt like.

I want to kiss you

I want to kiss you
in the rain
under an umbrella
with the sound of water
coming down
all around
I want to kiss you
in a car
with the engine running
the radio playing
as strangers pass bye unnoticed
I want to kiss you
in the stairwell
with the sound of footsteps
coming down from above
or up from below
echoing around the walls
I want to kiss you
in the park
on a crisp autumn day
with the leaves falling from the trees
and children’s laughter
coming from the playground swings
I want to kiss you
with the passion of roaring flames
I want to kiss you
like the cool caress of silk
I want to kiss you
like you are the only woman in the world
I want to kiss you
like you are the last love of my life
I want to kiss you
like you want to be kissed
I want to kiss you
like you deserve to be kissed
I want to kiss you
because your kiss makes me believe
there can be a happily ever after
I want to kiss you
with your kiss
dancing around in my heart
skipping around in my soul
I want to kiss you
as the secret hand of your desire
writes its history upon my heart
I want to kiss you
as I breathe your breath into me
your warm
red lips
soft
on mine
in your embrace
your body
pressed
against mine
driving away all thoughts
all troubles
all pain
all loss
driving away everything
but you
