Sometimes it's hard to ignore things that go bump in the night.

Images Of The Dead. A Poem Ideal For Halloween

She sees images of the dead
Inside her head and beneath her bed
Ghouls hiding in her wardrobe
With festering cuts all exposed
Vampires the dark night elite
With smiles that do more than greet
Frankensteins Monster who still draws breath
Even after mortal death
Zombies infesting the neighbourhood
Eating flesh wandering like driftwood
Demons come in two predictable speeds
Slow and fast all wanting to feed
Feed on her bones and warm tender flesh
Leaving her body in a distressing mess
Devils and ghosts roaming the street
Is that the scraping of a Monsters feet?
Bang! Bang! Rap! on her front door
She feels frozen to the core
Their search is over she can resist no more
She knows the pattern and what's in store
They've come for what they so adore
Supply on demand the unwritten law
She slips the latch hardly daring to stare
As into her flesh their teeth may tear
Hairy hands reaching out eager, unflustered
Groaning and moaning all keen as mustard
She bravely surrenders the preferred night treats
No blood tonight just Halloween sweets.

Glad you liked my Halloween contribution Steve.I would love to stay locked in behind closed doors tonight too but as I work in the evenings I'm all out of luck so I shall be wearing a large garlic necklace instead!
