Interpret and Analyze Reality at Every Step

We are at the apex of creation with the power to feel, interpret and analyze our pursuits. That carries duties and responsibilties. Like for the rest of species our time too will be called. Will our pursuits add meaning and purspose to the whole scheme of creation or we just spurn the endless chances given?

Is Reality a Maya, an Illusion?

Reality is still a puzzle tough to unravel. We are like the blind trying to figure out an elephant! Nature has not changed much over billions of years but asserts itself periodically to keep inhabitants on tenterhooks. The sun rises in the east and has done its duty without a break! So too others like the moon, the stars, and planets. Our planet is ever alive and resplendent in all its glory. To call it a miracle is an understatement; we are left in wonderment in the end when we try to unravel it! Is someone behind the whole or is it just a miracle, a figment of our imagination despite the physical part that we can feel?

Our Role

What is our role in the whole scheme of creation? Having been placed at the apex of all species, we do play a significant role. When all is over, hopefully after a fulfilling innings, let us and others feel mankind has earned the trust that has been placed on us. Whatever the discordant notes we strike should guide us to pursue a firm journey of hope and further vistas.

What is our destination? Is there any meaning to our existence? What does individual life mean? We are part of the whole and surely lend meaning and substance. Nobody can hold our hand except us and our beliefs, and we find ourselves in a leaderless, rudderless world increasingly. We have own ways of thinking, interpreting, justifying our actions. Most believe they are right and even if proved wrong, blame circumstances and even others. At every level, our time is ticking - for each, for humanity, for the planet and for the universe itself! What will be our epitaph and will some of our beliefs come true? Or our last breath here is the very end itself? Let us get prepared even for some unthinkable!

Our Fellow Travelers

Other species are also blessed with unique powers. They seem to know their duties and responsibilities, blessed with instincts of survival. They sacrifice to look after their loved ones and progenies. Most prefer to be left alone and leave others also alone. They are satisfied once their stomachs had their fill. They don’t assert their will and beliefs on others quite unlike some amongst us!

Our Pursuits

Despite our increasing scientific prowess, we have to accept much! What we can change hardly scratches the surface in the whole scheme of things. We create more havoc; to improve our lot does not come easy. We believe destruction is more easily achieved to prove whatever point we want to, at least to satisfy our ego! In our obsession to prove our points, we stop at nothing. We always look to assert our views, put down others. But what is the reality behind our existence? One hit between the eyes is enough to disorient us, deal the death knell for humanity itself!

Deciphering Reality

We have to know the reality to change it for the better. It is not only the physical state of the universe, the hardware part, but the unseen, the soft ware that works to perfection. The creation and the destruction in perfect harmony!

Let us start to decipher the reality rather than work at cross purposes. What is the purpose behind the whole show? Let science, philosophy, logic and spiritual pursuit work go hand-in-hand in our pursuit and keep us riveted, focused in an endless pursuit. The din that we create to assert our will works as a distraction and puts paid to our obvious role to guide our destiny in an endless journey. Though we should not baulk at destroying to create a better future, let us be aware of what we sow and be well guided and reasoned in the way we approach our tasks. Realities, both transient and permanent, have to be understood, analyzed as we are given powers of logic, reasoning and the scientific bend of mind to pursue legitimate goals. Are we up to the task or end up spurning our chances resulting in meaningless pursuits till our time is called?

This is brilliant. So thoughtful. I believe we are here to evolve through lifetimes until we get it right. Eventually we will, I believe, create a world civilization based on love rather than fear. Thank you Siva. You always inspire.

Very inspiring article. I believe we have a mission in this life to love and help others who are weaker instead of taking advantage of those who are weaker. We definitely have a divine purpose in this life God gives us! That is why He gave us intelligence, understanding, and, the capacity to love our fellow man. Great article!

Brilliant Shiva! You hit the nail right on the head by emphasising the need for love that unfortunately is so lacking in this hard-nosed dog-eat-dog world! Love does not cost anything but people find it so hard to give and receive love. Hence all the strife within families, communities, ethnicities, nations.

Siva,
You are so philosophical that much of what you wrote has gone over my head.
Never mind, my head is always confused.

We need to reflect as individuals, societies and as humanity in general. We are one and the same and I include our fellow travelers too - what we call other species. Thanks Jacuba, we have wasted enough time to prove others wrong than focusing on our journey, both here and hopefully beyond - siva

I was on a crowded bus years ago and a small child's voice echoed through the passengers, "Why are we here, Mama?" A little lady, homely, and clutching shopping answered, "To love one and other". That has remained in my memory for many years.
