Is There A Way Out of This Mess?

How often have you found yourself trapped in a situation or relationship with, seemingly, no way out. To make matters worse, other people can't seem to undestand why you're not happy with your present circumstances.

Like a chained animal, willing
At this point, to gnaw through my own flesh
Just to be free from the prison
You have created for me
Four walls and your face
My only view, my senses dulled
Freedom denied, disgusted by it all
I despise the games I’m forced to play
Frantically running on the wheel
Believing I can advance
Explore beyond these bounds
Breathless I recognize the vicious, spinning circle
I’ve seen this all before
Wasting my time and effort, defeated
Remembering the countless times past
Trapped and deceived
Trying to make my way through the maze
Of lies and pretense
Only to find my path blocked
No reward at its end
And you, with me as your only source
Of amusement, have deceived yourself
As well, believing that here is where
I want to be
