Is There a God?

This was originally published on Bubblews a week ago after my first visit to a new church. I have never been a religious person, but I do believe there is something bigger than our singular lives. This is my experience in receiving a message from God.

A Change in View

I wrote a while ago on Bubblews about my religious beliefs. I have been like many going through some very difficult times. I doubted the existence of God as an actual figurehead to look to when we are in crisis. The last week has been a whirlwind, amazing things and horrible things have been happening all to shake me up and make me open my eyes. Is it God? I still have reservations but I think they are only because of the negative way the word has been portrayed.
I met a woman who told me there was a possible job connection with people she knows, but they were at her church! Me being in the place I am about that, I believe there is Truth in every religion, so I have not really connected to one in particular. I guess the breaking point is when you start saying you don’t believe!
So, I finally went in last week hoping to make these connections and honestly because there have been way too many signs pointing towards my needing to be there to ignore. I won’t go into details, but it has been intense. My reception there was amazing; I was immediately greeted and introduced to people. One woman just took me in and offered to sit with me. I had expected to sit in the back if I did not find the woman who had recommended the church to me. I did meet one woman who works at the company I have applied to and it was a wonderful connection. The whole experience was really wonderful, just the love that was in the room.
Driving home I turned on the radio, still not sure I was going to go back but really wanting to just to connect with these amazing people again. I don’t know the name of the song or who sings it but seriously the line that came on right as I changed the station was “I believe in you and I know you believe in me.” I know I listened to the rest of the song, but I honestly don’t remember anything about the song after that line. I was sitting at a stop light and the thought came to me that if there is a God, he was telling me to stop and listen and gave me a very clear answer!
How can I ignore that? Logic could say it was coincidence. With all the things that have been happening to me lately, I am understanding synchronicity over coincidence. So here it is, especially for all of you who tried to help me see. I believe there is a God. I still think we have to be careful of dogma. What I like about this church is they are there to help you connect personally with God and not to just take on the religious teachings in blind faith. I am not sure, maybe all churches are like that.
I am thankful for that experience and would like to experience more. Will I become a religious zealot who has to shove my ideals down everyone’s throat? No. But I am happy to say I have found an answer.

Thanks for your share of belief and experiences, Kaianni. I have seen all ilks, shades of religious fervor. The beauty is I have met few who are atheists who want to be left alone but are ever helpful and they also believe in doing what is right - do unto others as you would have them do unto you. There is an unseen guiding hand behind the whole creative process and we should accept the diversity in beliefs and, last but not the least, we should never fight in the name of our Gods - they know how to take care of themselves! siva

ABSOLUTELY. I agree. My only fervor is in love, and that does not have a compartment, it is in all places people choose to let go of fear. I will always believe we tap into that same river no matter what we call it.

God has always a desire for us to know Him personally. He always allow circumstances (bad or good) in life to help us draw near to Him. I believed that god loves us so much that He really wanted to see our life getting better everyday.
