January Deep

The sub-zero temperatures of this bone chilling January have created a unique canvas for my poetry. This year's extremely cold winter in Maine is exquisitely highlighted by the addition of my husband's Mike's amazing photos.

Ice Dressed

Statuesque dark pines
And winter's lonely sky meet;
Here, where evergreens gather,
Skirting the January field's snow floor.

Blue Glass Window

Standing at the edge on the icy shore,
Ash trees lift their winter-wispy branches,
Pressing them against the frosted window
Of a blue-glass sky.

Beyond the Cold

In this distant, timeless place,
Past long shadows
Cast upon the ice covered snow,
Winter's crackling cold sunlight glow
Is the raw-blue of sky and ocean.
