Hindu religious scriptures have written about about a cycle on earth which is divided into the four ages.Satya-yuga, Tretā-yuga,Dvāpara-yuga and the last, the Kali-yuga.I would share my opinion on kalyug.

Kalyug

Kalyug

The first age Satya-yuga had a duration of 1,728,000 years. The second is Tretā-yuga that lasted 1,296,000 years. The third is Dvāpara-yuga with a duration of 864,000 years. And Kal-yuga to last about 432,000 years in total.

We are presently living in kalyug.Approximately 5000 some odd years have passed. There is still about 427,000 years to pass.Kalyug is also called Kali age.Its is ruled by Goddess Kali and Kaal Bhairav. It is also called the iron age. They will be an increase in activities of women in this age. They will gain more power in the economy and also will become leaders.

Kalyug is the last age and is known as the age of decay. It has modern progress in one hand and on the other hand destruction of environmental surrounding.Populations have grown in kalyug more than in any other age. This leads to shortage of food, unpreditable weather making it hard to grow food in abundance.Hindus in this age increased their diet of meat.If majorities of humans around the world give up meat now it will lead to starvation, there's not enough of vegetables to substain human life.

According to hindu scriptures all food must be offered to specific Gods before eating.Hindus according to religion, custom and tradition perform animal sacrifice to Bhariav/Dee Baba and Kali Ma.All food is offered to creator first before eating.Every action has a reaction and when a sacrifice is actioned a prayer is perform and this procedure removes the reaction. In Kalyug certain action are unavoidable therefore specific prayers for sacrifice is acceptable.Man is on top of the food cycle and his survival may need him to perform certain action and this is acceptable by the Gods.

This article is just small aspect of kalyug and there's much more to outlay. There is much confusion around the world because of a general view that hindus are vegetarians. This is not true.Being a vegetarian is a choice and our religion has versatility.

Good share, Randhir. I feel giving up meat will not lead to starvation as the land will be freed up that goes to rear animals that provide meat. In fact, we will have more than we need to grow vegetables and grains - siva

Thank you Siva for your comment. But the climate is proving us wrong. At the moment not all vegetables are in good supply.Remember that its only 5000 years that have passed and there's already problems. Not only writing about today but future problems.GM foods is also proof of change. We are part of the food cycle, humans was created as the most versatile,we have insisors. As again its a matter of choice when it comes to being a vegetarians. To get all the nutients from vegatables we need to have five different types daily, almost uncooked and this is also very expensive.I know medical proffesionals do prescribe meat in your diet because of its benefits.

Loverme,I am just shedding some light on kalyug. In Hinduism its accepatable to eat meat as long a procedure is followed. There's a general view around the world that hindus only follow a vegetarian diet, this is a incorrect.
