Key to Peace is through Inclusiveness

We find ourselves in a divided world giving a tiny minority the right to write our epitaph as it were. Peace is what we all thirst for but it proves the biggest casualty, and is it not an irony that we are cruelly denied by the few unconscionable among us? Is it not a blot on our conscience that we are helpless when those killed are treated like digits?

Inclusive Thought and Action

Peace is the most elusive commodity in our world. The moment we sight an oasis of peace in the distance it proves a mirage soon. Our leaders are kept busy strategizing the paths towards peace but they lose the way all the time. If they play it safe they are considered cowards but when they flex their muscles they are reckless. Obviously, it is our attitude and mental state that decides which path to take. Though the majority wants peace a minority sets the agenda for them. The world is in the brink of catastrophe with even big powers pulling in different directions and forcing the smaller ones to take sides! It has been this way all along and modern technology has not made a difference except to drive home the point that 99% want to be left alone. An inclusive world is the magic potion that can lead to peace.

Minority Holding Sway

The culture of a country and region plays a part. Some cannot make head or tail of freedom and democracy. This applies to war-torn Iraq, Egypt, and Syria to even peaceful, homogeneous Thailand. The rampaging Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant are out for revenge killing all and sundry. That this can happen in a modern world is blot on collective human conscience. It looks that they need leaders like Saddam Hussein and Qaddafi to keep them under leash. It is now free for all. Egypt is also in disarray while Thailand cannot accept the decision by a majority under a democratic system! Maybe, they do not have an outside enemy to unite them! It drives home the age-old saying an idle mind is a devil’s workshop!

It is an irony that democratic countries find it difficult to accept a common agenda for progress. The defeated pull down those elected to power as a matter of routine. This becomes a self-defeating exercise for the majority who hope against hope for better times. It is like setting the cat among the pigeons to disorient the people even before the euphoria of elections sink in. The divisive elements hold sway all the time. It is like communism that thrives only when there is misery and I have lived in a place where it was actively sowed to keep the people on tenterhooks and even in agony!

World is the Oyster

It is time we looked at issues to find solutions that will lead to world peace. That even elements within a religion are fighting to the last man is an affront to humanity as a whole. Gandhi said an eye for eye will make the world go blind and it is happening in Iraq and Syria now. We are forced to look at the mayhem in a state of helplessness and with a feeling of beyond hope and repair. Are they just digits and, come to think of it, it is plainly the tyranny of a minority against a vast majority. The minority has the weapons to terrorize, kill and maim the innocents. Do we do enough to cut off the source of weapons flow? In fact, the supply is continuing, replenishing the fast depleting stock! That we reap what we sow cannot be over said. It is time to act than react after the damage is set in motion.

Inclusiveness leads to Peace

The age-old take that others are different and just digits causes the misery we see in the world. The super powers try to score points against each other and use the rest as proxy in their attempt towards world hegemony. When will we learn to take the world as one with solutions to be thought out for problems we commonly face like climate change, clean energy, weapons proliferation? Only when that day dawns will we find lasting solutions towards peace. Now we are after quick-fixes that lead to more issues. The minority holds sway over majority whether it is democracy or totalitarianism. The world has to work towards inclusiveness in every way and not just wake up when our own lives are threatened. We are clearly paying for proliferation of destructive weapons that are sold to all and sundry.

Majority has to Assert

A world government model where the majority will prevails is the crucial way forward. Now a minority wants to impose their belief against the majority. Is it not ironical that all religions profess peace but their followers are licensed to kill? There is only one Creator and in effect such actions mean we go against the momentous creative process that we cannot comprehend or even imagine. And even after thousands of years of progress we are still carried away by hatred and bigotry! There is no way we deserve to be saved or even think of heaven with this type of attitude that is in stark contrast to our inner conscience. We acquiesce in to a world where peace and inclusiveness is a casualty and where greed, hypocrisy and false pride hold sway.

The super powers have to agree on the basics. It looks like each is carving out spheres of influence and using the rest as pawns in a game that the majority everywhere are least involved. Our leaders have to show their wisdom starting with wars cannot bring lasting peace. They have to understand the plaintive cry of the common people everywhere that they thirst for peace. Wars pit one innocent against another and they are forced to do the bidding at the behest of a powerful minority safely ensconced in their comfort zones. The atrocities perpetrated and shown by media are plain inhuman and against all norms of the creative process. When powerful leaders do nothing to prevent the mayhem, they fail humanity big time; it is time for mass awakening to change the way we act and react.

Thanks Mark for your words of encouragement. Every day we live in hatred and war, and every innocent life lost due to bigotry, is a blot in our collective conscience. We are failing our Creator big time by going around in circles and feigning helplessness. The Creator through nature is giving us every encouragement and subtle guidance to live with compassion, empathy and within an inclusive society - siva

It is usually a small lot holding the hapless majority to ransom. Education, skill development will ensure inclusivity and thus peace. I likd the article posted.

Thanks Kumar. When the majority is silent it emboldens a minority to run amok like the religious fanatics who dictate their terms and interpret the teachings to suit their hate-filled agenda. They use weapons to drive home their point even terrorizing those who stand to reason - siva

Thanks Ptrikha. It is too late for me but we all know what is right from wrong and the paths to take. When we speak the truth we do not have to remember what we said, not like most business people who are adept at making money out of the most innocents and losing it all to bigger crooks! siva

The silent majority has to assert, Ptrikha. Their views are same whether they are in America, China, India or Africa. And they are same whatever religions they belong to or none at all. Again, it is only the few who fight on behalf of unseen Gods with a hope to ascend to heaven with blood in their hands! siva

Yes Ptrikha - they have been setting the agenda, dragging the majority into wars, cheating the innocents of their basics. Look at the world now - World War ll enemies, Germany and Japan are welcome everywhere, also Russians & Chinese are doing business everywhere. The ordinary Pakistanis also want peace but India is painted as an enemy by a few. I have seen all nationalities and followers of various religions and all are like you and me. It is time indeed to see the whole picture but not through blinkered glasses. 99% have to say enough is enough - siva

Inspired article siva,

people with their heads in the sand need to be gotten to somehow though. Democracy doesn't seem to have an all encompassing answer to these ongoing problems either. The rich get richer, the poor poorer, in their spirit too....

Yes Spirited, thanks for your support. The main issue is America tries to be a world policeman, but then what is the purpose of the UN? It is human nature that other big powers would like America get a bloodied nose! They may even work towards that end. Russia is asserting in their backyard and so does China!

The main sufferers are the innocent majority everywhere. For the sake of the 99%, is it so difficult to get a concerted action from the big powers? But when actions are promoted by selfish goals and greed they will not work! That is where the 99% have to assert incontrovertibly that we are all one and same, and everyone has the right to live honorably. Live and let live is their credo but our leaders do not get the message. Leaders like Kevin Rudd may be more understanding, able to speak Mandarin and having a Chinese son-in-law! Yes, the world is our oyster with unity in diversity - siva

Dear Siva, societies all over the world aim for inclusiveness, but the sad fact is that it has its limitations. The governing minority is sometimes tempted by greed, power and money to exploit the silent majority. The so-called 'awakening' by the majority is theoretically sound but difficult to put into practice because of the conflicting demands and interests of the people at large. . .

Thanks dear Subra for your take. The 99% are same everywhere but the 1% sow seeds of discontent that affect the whole society.

In the case of upheavals that are raging now, the weapons were supplied by the few greedy. Now no one bothers how anyone can get them as it is taken for granted they are available everywhere for the right price! America tries to act as a world policeman but others like Russia and China are out to trip them especially when America is up in arms when the latter does the same! Maybe, they are blissfully unaware of such hypocrisy! Yes, inclusiveness and awakening is not easy but we should move a higher notch than now when people are butchered for their beliefs! The endless revenge syndrome will revert us back to stone age! And we get impervious to the dastardly acts as if we are watching a movie in between the hysteria of ongoing world cup!

My point of view is the majority has not elected leaders to fight wars. America's earlier actions in Middle East has in effect put the cat among the pigeons upsetting an order that worked. They should take a hard look at the mirror and realize where the Weapons of Mass Destruction are really - just in their backyard. The best way is for the super powers to lead by example by starting a program of disarmament and not taking selling of arms as the most profitable industry. The 99% should assert - no more wars and it will prove to be more eminently profitable to them than waging them - that spell ruin to them but enriching the 1%. So only a mass awakening will drive home the point to the leaders in ivory towers everywhere - siva

Thank you Wogiam. Almost everyone wants peace and to be left alone. Why then all these killings? No religion or God wants people to be killed as it negates the love that is creation. I feel it is high time there is a gentleman's agreement to let bygones be bygones and take the present reality as the stepping stone for a secured future. The more we delay, the higher will be the cost in terms of destruction, killings and karma. We should start with disarmament with big powers taking a hard look at their mirror, inner conscience! No more one rule for them and another for lesser mortals! siva

Thank you for another inspiring article. Before there can be lasting peace we must come to understand that we are all brothers and sisters regardless of colour, creed, sexual orientation or anything else that we feel divides us. We must learn that when we help another we are helping ourselves and when we harm another we are harming ourselves.
