Sometimes every part of you knows something, but your brain needs a little time to catch up.

Kindred Spirits

We can touch and tremble
Or restrain and refrain.
That quiet ache
I feel when you
dance deftly like a Banshee through
the uncharted tropics of my mind,
and my sweet sinful soul,
is a sleeping world you awakened.

Touch me, I’ll tremble.
I feel your fear and you feel mine.
And our desires, I feel them. Do you?
Dare you? Dare I?

Don’t touch me, I’ll still tremble.
Talk to me, like a spirited song when
all the other voices drone and buzz
around me like a sick summer swarm
yours carries a splendid sound
which drowns
the rest.

Touch me and tremble.
I know now it’s what I’ve wanted
so awake now
eyes opened wide
to a new world so bright and brilliant
and so wild and warm, so why
do I tremble?

Touch me. Or don’t.
Either way
our souls are forever locked
in trembling embrace.
