Lapin - A Short Poem

This is a poem I just wrote today. I've always liked rabbits, so I decided to personify a person's struggle to the top as a rabbit's life, fleeting and thought-provoking! I wrote this in about 20 minutes with very little editing. Was just sharpening my speed-writing skills. I haven't written in a while, so hopefully you all like this. Enjoy!

Little rabbit, so young and carefree.
No rules but those of nature to guide.
Soon adolescence with time will flee,
And you will find less time on your side.

Not the best roof but a roof still,
A victory when funds are not rife.
Doing well you don't have your fill
Remain proud of your job and your life.

Success can be an empty promise.
It seems good to taste, to smell, and feel.
But there's one thing that's easy to miss:
When you were young, running through that field.

Remember where you came from, lapin,
Balance your new life with the old one.
