Late autumn in the south

I haven't published in Wikinut for ages. Life takes over. Catching up.

Southern autumn

It's far too long since I wrote something on Wikinut. Keeping a diary is an excellent thing, so perhaps it's time to share again.

The Cape is rich with autumn colours, the days drastically shorter, the temperature down. Easter has come and gone. I spent five days over Easter as the guide for a friend from Cambridge and her son, in the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga Province (the old Eastern Transvaal), in the Lowveld. We saw many elephants and springbok. Also baboons of course, crocodiles, a hippopotamus, rhinoceros, giraffe, warthogs. No Big Cats. I took them on the final day to a cheetah rehabilitation centre, where we had a close view of them, and lions. We drove through the scenic Woodbush, the Escarpment, the region around the Blyde River. Thence via Pilgrim's Rest back down to the highway and to Johannesburg for their flight on to Mozambique. Hectic. I haven't been in those parts for decades. A hired car, new maps, new names for many of the towns, and sadly the roads heavily scarred with large potholes. An African adventure.

Otherwise I edit for a living, and develop my ceramics studio (big items, 'Brother Sun and Sister Moon - stoneware sundials and birdbaths), and work on my new fiction series, 'The Hands of Riki Jordan'. Lot of work, which must lead to a breakthrough for a less uncertain financial future.

Enjoy the northern spring, Wikinut people!

Been biking a lot I guess!!! None the less, its fun visiting places with friends and family. Ceramics are interesting, you should advertise some of your stuff here and show the world.

Got family in Johannesburg, none the less take care.

BTW its leading into winter here too in NZ. Perks of the Southern Hemisphere. Always loved winter as I get to wear more coats and jackets.
