My new publication EVIL WOMAN...takes revenge was published in June. I had 2 book launches to help it on its way. Read on to find out how they went.

Launching EVIL WOMAN...takes Revenge

I have been a published author for 22 years now, and each time my new work is published, I find it such a thrill. My son Phil is the reason I became an author, his fight to survive against all the odds inspired me to write his life story, entitled MY LIFE IS WORTH LIVING!

I followed this with a love story about a couple who are both unhappily married, and when they fall in love, it's about the consequences that occur afterwards. This is entitled Not Just an Affair.

Two years ago I decided to try something dark and My EVIL WOMAN, Sadie Morton Brown was created, her sole aim in life was her own personal gratification, no matter what it cost to others. Even I was horrified at the monster i had created, although it was fun doing it, and at the end of the book I left her exactly where I thought she should be.

Bu that didn't work for my readers, when the reviews started coming in on Amazon, it was clear I needed to write a sequel because they all wanted to know what Sadie did next.

So I wrote EVIL WOMAN...takes Revenge

On 26th June this year, the sequel was published, which shows the power of the people. I wrote it simply because my readers wanted me to, and I very much enjoyed developing Sadie's very complex character.

BBC radio Suffolk interviewed me in May, which really helped to spread the word about my writing, and I will always be very grateful to them, especially as I am a visitor there, my home is in Kent.

I use Twitter and Facebook to advertise myself, and I have a special author page on Facebook where readers can keep up to date with my blogs and also like and share them. I find when you are planning an event, laying the foundations ensures you are more likely to have success. This free advertising is a great help, so long may it last.

My Home Launch

My first launch was for family and friends, and held at home. What better place to share your new work than at home. We have an average sized house, but the support was amazing, even more people than last time. They were packed tightly like sardines in a tin, in every room, spilling out into the hall, the drinks flowed, the food was consumed, and then the book signing started.

I sold more books than I ever imagined, since I bought an Izettle, which is a way off taking card payments through my phone, I have sold even more books, and that night was no exception. Everyone who came was welcome , whether they bought or not, but such was the support, I realise I am so lucky to have such genuine friends.

Then there were the friends who couldn't make the book launch, some lived too far away, but I was busy sending copies off to them in the post.

The party went on until midnight, mainly because one of our neighbours brought a couple of bottles of his favourite red wine, and although my daughter was planning to drive home that night after being such a great support in the kitchen making sandwiches and punch, which also went down well, after tasting the wine, she decided to help him finish the bottles.

Then came the Beaney

My next book launch was at The Beaney at Canterbury. This was more of a challenge, as most people belong to a library because they prefer to loan a book rather than buy it. I had invited guests from Facebook, and some had even said they were coming, but every one of us has busy lives, so I was not sure they would make it.

So I spent my time chatting to people who came into the library and spoke to me. They were interested in the fact that I was there because I am a local author, and I made some blind sales. I call them blind because they were not set up in advance, purely people who liked the look of my books, and were prepared to give them a try.

I have my publisher, United Writers to thank for that. I only write the books, they design the covers, and what a superb job they do. Each of my book covers are beautifully done, and frequently draw great interest, and many positive comments.

At the end of the day I was pleased with the result, and I would like to thank everyone at the Beaney, for not only allowing me to come and do my book signing there, but also keeping me supplied with jugs of ice cold water on a very hot day. I am continuing to work hard on every occasion, my aim it to sell all the hardback copies of my books, so they can then be published in paperback form. One day I hope to realise this ambition, then I can truly say I have achieved success.

Some of the pictures are my own, some from Wikpedia with thanks.
